Anyone remember Bayonetta? It's now a 91/93 on Metacritic

That really surprised me, it's actually scored higher than Assassin's Creed 2 (91) as a 360 score (93), and for the PS3 list it is only one point less (91). It's kinda humorous how many trashed the game while the demo was barely out, and in the past couple weeks I haven't seen a single thread that brought up Bayonetta. And now apparently it is a good game because of it's higher-than-expected Metacritic score.

So will anyone finally bother to try it out? I may just rent it because it still does not seem worth blowing $60, but who knows? If it's really good I might actually buy it, though there are much more content-packed games I'd rather get first.

12:11 EDIT - Some people are still confused, I'm surprised none of you remember when people saw that obscure eye candy dancing video of the main character and dismissed it as just spectacle, not to mention I heard a couple say how it was nothing more than pure hack-'n-slash about big baddies and that it's nothing new. Well from playing the demo it was quite fun for me, though at the beginning it got too clusterfucky and I could hardly see anything, but eventually I got the hang of the combo attacks and it was awesome. Yes some of the battle animations seem over the top but it was downright fun and that's good enough to at least give it a try.

I definitely agree, but come on, the fact that it scored in the 90s has to mean something. I'm pretty sure this game now deserves to be tried out by everyone, not necessarily bought.

from what i've heard from IGN the PS3 version should have more than 1-2 points off.
for those who haven't seen the reviews the 360 version got 9.5, PS3 got 8.7.

I haven't played it yet, but it would have to be pretty good to make up for being as... grating as the previews make it out to be.

I really badly want to play this, (Hell it's made by the Devil May Cry and Viewtiful Joe Creator and I love both) but sadly I don't own an 360..

I played the demo and didn't finish it before I got bored and gave up. But I normally like that sort of game so I don't know what it was that put me off it.

Yeah, they complained that the game is slowed down a bit.

I think they're just b.s.ing because I played the PS3 demo and I saw no problems and the combat ran smoothly...but then again a demo and the actual game are two different entities.

Getting Bayonetta is right up there with all those silly Japanese games that have tons of light hentai crap in them. I wouldn't mind it so bad if the game wasn't consistently bordering on being soft core porn, but it's damn near non-stop. I can't help but imagine that everyone drooling over the game are exactly like this guy:

It's not that I'm a prude, it's just that I really don't feel it does anything to enhance the game itself at all. It makes Bayonetta feel like a game that was designed for 13 year old boys. It's just all around immature.

I don't care about the "sexy theme" of Bayonetta. It's not even remotely turning me on. The only thing I care about is that the combat is extremely awesome.

Yeah, that's basically the entire damn game. Even outside of the fights like that one, there are a lot of little things like one of Bayonetta's moves involve her humping the air for no real reason when you charge it.
