I played the demo and couldn't stand it. I loved DMC 1 and 3, God of War 1 and 2 and the Dante's Inferno demo but Bayonetta did absolutely nothing for me at all. I'll give it a miss.

Dem's fightin' words. PISTOLS AT DAWN VARMINT!

Getting Bayonetta is right up there with all those silly Japanese games that have tons of light hentai crap in them. I wouldn't mind it so bad if the game wasn't consistently bordering on being soft core porn, but it's damn near non-stop. I can't help but imagine that everyone drooling over the game are exactly like this guy:

It's not that I'm a prude, it's just that I really don't feel it does anything to enhance the game itself at all. It makes Bayonetta feel like a game that was designed for 13 year old boys. It's just all around immature.
See Famitsu giving this a 40/40 is one reason never to trust Famitsu.

All you need is yourself.

And I say... after seing that.... "What?"

Why is it hard to accept that ports to the PS3 have glaring technical issues?
They aren't an issue though, that's what I'm saying.

The reviewer at IGN mentions two main things: slowdown and load times.

Like I said earlier, I'm nearly finished, and I've yet to see very many areas with very much lag. Of course, there are some, as the action is incredibly frantic, with a lot going on.
The load times are another "issue" that was blown way out of proportion. They are, literally, 2-3 seconds long. Sure, they're still there but why in the hell would quick load times be an issue?
[sub](Enough of an issue to give it a 4.5 on presentation, and an 8.0 for the Xbox?)[/sub]

But, then again, that all goes down to whether or not you can actually enjoy the game, regardless of system. Hell, I could give a shit less, so long as I'm having as much fun as the next guy.

It turns out the full scene is even stranger than just that short clip of the virgin wanking to the game. Also, lol @ the alternate costumes.

It seems like the more clips I found about this game, the more it breaks my brain.

Sigh.... Let me rephrase myself.

I try not to criticize games I haven't played unless it's pretty obvious I can get away with it, but holy crap, this game is... it's... there's no expression appropriate for it that doesn't sound sarcastic.

For some reason I thought the gameplay would be bad, but since people in here are saying it's good I might give it a try, all magical vagina shenanigans aside.

By the way, do you want to hear the songs by my new garage band, Magical Vagina Shenanigans?

Yeah, that's basically the entire damn game. Even outside of the fights like that one, there are a lot of little things like one of Bayonetta's moves involve her humping the air for no real reason when you charge it.
I dunno, isn't that supposed to be the stupid fun of it? Like "Haha, check this out boys" kinda fun? I guess there will be some guys that get turned on by it, but there are guys that get turned on by the Easter Bunny. Bayonetta will be the game that was made because we can and there was nothing like it before that received this level of hype and was so ridiculous. Not that any of this makes it a good game or one I want to play particularly, just saying that it's something you can play with your friends and be like "OOOOOH!" like the guy in the video someone posted above.
Yes, it's the stupid fun of it.....if the game makes someone feel like its insulting their intelligence then they're really not in the right mind set to be questioning this game...that and they probably need to lighten up a bit...=P

The word here is camp, personally I only can't stand camp when Batman's involved....
(Batcredit card for the lose...>>)

But as for this game...it's fucking awesome and a joy to play.

I got a good headline for you;
REVIEWERS ENTICED BY BIG BREASTS
Let me know what the female reviewers thought of the game.
Oh please, by that same logic all male gamers should hate on DMC/God of War for having overly manly/witty male characters instead of average joe. And every other minorities should be pissed that they are cannon fodder in video games.
Actually, by that logic all male gamers should love DMC/God of War because the main characters are manly men who they could identify with/pretend to be.

And last I checked, most female gamers who are worth a damn were fairly irritated with the way they're represented.

Oh and finally here's some good news I just dug up for the PS3 port...it would just be silly to see a Japanese game not ported well onto a Japanese console compared to the gaijin version...lol

(saying that the 360 isn't exactly favored in Japan, not in the slightest bit...0o)

I still have no idea what this game is about, but glad to know it prevailed over the trash talking.

Well, after playing the PS3 demo, i didnt see any major issues with the graphics or frame-rate

If there is a difference it must be pretty minor

To be honest, it looks terrible. Critic's for it have probably been payed.
Well, it's a lot like Killer 7 and No More Heroes, in the sense that it'll be a hit for some, and a miss for others. No real middle ground is visible, here.

Some see it as pretentious filth and glorified sex appeal wrapped up into a game. Others see... Well, the exact same thing, but factoring in the combat and surreal environments, they're going to have a great time with it.

I'd say your best bet is to play the demo and find out whether it's the right game for you.

Never trust critics. End of story.
I definitely agree, but come on, the fact that it scored in the 90s has to mean something. I'm pretty sure this game now deserves to be tried out by everyone, not necessarily bought.
MGS 4 scored a 90+, yet it doesn't appeal to everyone. My problem with Bayonetta is I'd be more embarassed to be caught playing that than caught watching porn...

Speaking as a woman who's tried the demo... it was pretty fun. Not amazing or mind-blowing, but okay. The story and absurd characters/visuals... yeah, that could get in the way. Definitely would not pay any more than $20 for it, and even that's stretching it a little.

Actually, if they allowed me to skip the cutscenes, I'd pay $25 for it. Maybe.

The demo was BORING. It's not my type of game (at all - there's linear (HL2) and then there's linear (Bayonetta) ); I didn't finish the demo.

I played the Dante's Inferno demo and that at least kept me half-entertained (enough to see the demo through).

Tried it. It hurt my eyes, then the music started and my ears bled.

Far Cry 2 and Prince of Persia 2008 have 85% on Metacritic, despite being hated by much of the gaming community.

In otherwords, Metacritic is not always a reliable way to judge things.
