I was thinking about getting into the original APB, but then I heard it was going to be shut down. Now, APB: Reloaded is in closed beta and is going to F2P. Can anyone tell me what APB is about and such? I would also like to hear opinions about the original APB, and thoughts on the Sequel.

This one is being lead by a different company than the last, so I've heard.
APB stands for All Points Bulletin.

I played the original APB in beta and post-launch.
It's a kinda cops-and-robbers style MMO-esque shooter with a heavy emphasis on player creativity and customization. If that sounds fun, then wait for the part when it gets old fast and is horribly unbalanced.

They sent me an email begging me to beta test for them again and swearing they'd changed like a girlfriend that realized dumping stability for drug addled guitar players for bands nobody cares about is a really bad idea.

I laughed and deleted the email. Some things will never change. I'm confident that APB is a flat out flawed concept and needs to be completely re-made from scratch.

I guess i missed the point of the thread a bit. The original APB was a terribad clone of GTA where bad guys who are people played 5 missions over again fighting against good guys playing. The cars handled like the road was made out of melting ice cream, weapons were samey and irrelevant, missions would send you halfway across the city and by the time you got there with your ice cream jetski of a car it would already be over. Apparently character customization at character creation was great, however progression past character creation literally did not exist. You could dress yourself in some clothes with cash you got if your side accidentally won a mission while you were around.

All in all, lone independent programmers running off donations have created games infinitely better than this steaming pile of crap. There's a reason that the servers were shut down before the game had even sold out in stores.

Will APB: Reloaded polish a turd into gold? It's plausible, but so is Bill Nye the Science Guy kicking down my door and bringing me one of those giant plastic checks for 9 million dollars. Realistically, no. They probably did some work on the four wheeled ice cream jetskis or removed them, made a few more guns, and put some quickie rpg system in. They'll eke by on microtransactions until eventually shutting down again.

I love the game nothing was more fun than me and my group of m8s sitting around doing fuck all but showing off our cool new stuff we had made.

3 main issues that I don?t think will be able to fix that broke that game

balancing the guns
stopping ppl from camping (ppl on the roofs im looking that them)
getting a team of dulling mongoloids vs a team of hardened vets

if these could actually be fixed and the player base be docked a fue hudred halo fags it would be one of my all time favourite games
over all cant w8 for it 2 be back... coss I?m a dreamer (although a stupid one)

The character customisation was.... GOOD GOD! Amazing, but the game didnt seem to get enough attention. I would hate to see that customisation go to waste. Thats my 2 cents.

I remember back before the game originally came out, I had CRAZY high hopes for it. The idea was brilliant, but form what I've heard, the execution just didn't work at all.

I'd definitely be willing to give the game a chance now that it's gonna be free to play, it's a bit of a shame the beta is closed.

Like I said, even if it's a brand new group, APB as it existed was awful. If you wanted to do APB right, you would have trashed the whole thing and used the customization options as a guideline. They're trying to polish a turd. As it turns out, you can in fact polish a turd, but you still have a ball of shit.

Also if I gave someone else the invite, there's a fairly good chance they'd have access to enough personal info to guarantee that nobody will ever get it. I learned the hard way from playing World of Warcraft that if you provide fake info, getting help from customer support guys takes approximately 8x as long. So, it's all laid out right there in the account. Nobody is getting that.

Yeah, I've seen a lot of the customization videos and I've jizzed my pants at the lot of it; very impressive, i say. I just hope reloaded will stick around, even if it is a turd, I want to experience it and hopefully screw around and jack some people up before it dries up :>

I don't think its been in development long enough to fix the broken trash that was APB. If they can manage it? Maybe I'll give the trial a shot and see if its decent, but I doubt I'd buy it. Guild wars 2 is in my sights.
