Jon, I realize you guys are just getting the second season on its feet, but I worry that the overstretched exposition (Gladys on the spaceship/ Obama's doom machine), and the belabored and cliche'd gags (This past episode) are getting in the way of really interesting storytelling.
Your first season started out slow, but REALLY punched up around the time of Mississippi Maggot Stew when actions the characters took had a meaningful impact on the narrative, and each character was given a memorable arch. Past episodes had surprising and brilliant relevance where they apparently had none. I thought that you guys really optimized storytelling in a 7-10 minute span, carrying a season as meaningfully as many one-hour presentations do with characters that were just as viable and interesting. The humor had a certain classic feel that the apocalyptic setting colored in a unique way. Moreover, the humor had an explosiveness granted from each character being at TOTAL odds with each other.
Succinctly, I'm not seeing that so far, and I hope you guys amp it up. I'm enthusiastic about what you've made; something like this deserves to last.
