I'd say the writing is slightly better than an Adult Swim cartoon and half as well animated.

So that was my opinion, if you really want this series to be better, you need better scripting including actual funny humour. Also, I think British people would do this better, lol.
I agree, because obviously British people detect sarcasm so well...

I wouldn't say its bad, I would say its predictable for people that are over exposed to the media today. These jokes appeal allot more to my brother and sister which are not younger by far ( 1.5 years the most) but they don't see this kind of jokes all the time like I do. Like for example on the cat taking a dump joke i just remembered how many times i have seen that type of joke in staid of my brother who just laughed at it. We ask people to be original but if i made a show about a cook who rides mantis to save chocolate in the planet Zog (Copy right of Yahtzee, He said it on one of his episodes. See I'm not original either >.>) I think i wouldn't get good reviews due to the sheer amount of mindfuckery... I'm just saying, its not like its not original its just too familiar.

This series is only going to get better. :)
Couldn't get much worse The animation quality isn't as good as people are saying really. The image quality is pretty nice but the animation of those images is not. Before anyone gets defensive I am not saying I could do better but just because I can't do better it doesn't mean I can't say it wasn't good. If that was true Yahtzee wouldn't be able to do his reviews.

Perhaps if the episodes were longer and had more of a point than a string of bad jokes. Less characters directly involved at a time to start with and development of those characters would be nice. Overall it seemed like a shortened and even more choppy version of some of those aweful shows that made it onto adult swim... (some of those were gems and others were so aweful).

:O But the person who posted this video was in fact Big Pete! This could be a sign.
Ok video. Some bits were predictable humour and you wonder how long it can be pulled on for but the bit with the cat and knife were good.

Hmm, to be honest, it looked kind of like that Family Guy episode after the nuclear apocalypse.

It's well done animation-wise but as for the actual content: Very few of the jokes were funny and the rest was just bad/not my taste/whatever.

I'll give this another try next week, though.

I've played a bunch of Fallout 3 and I thought it would be a fun setting for a buch of fun characters to have to live and deal with each other. Once the world starts expanding and we introduce the gangs and other settlements out in the wastes it's going to get a whole lot crazier. :)

I knew I recognized the animation style. You made Prostitute Mickey, right? Guys, give this show a chance. I too will admit that this episode disappointed me, but I know that Jon has talent, so lets see if things pick up before we give our final judgment.

A tip- the setting and characters need to be fleshed out more, and try to avoid stereotypes and cliches, as the community probably won't take kindly to that.

this was indeed horrible,
i found myself being distracted by the colour of my bedroom walls.
'lets eat big pete' i mean who the hell was this guy were so inclined to watch his funeral take place that i wasted 4 minutes of m life watching it.
the theme tune is boring and annoying and has almost prevented me from watching otehr Escapist content because its so damn annoying i want to break my laptop with the nearest object.

I didn't mind it that much. It wasn't the greatest thing I've seen. It was interesting, and it sure doesn't deserve some of the hateful comments it's getting. Remember, pretty soon, this will all be over. The Apocalypse Lane art won't be on the site theme anymore. The videos will play some ads for weird MMO's or something along those lines. You can take a few day's break from the Escapist and its content if you really hate the theme song that much.

This show will never, and indeed, probably cannot, appeal to everybody. That doesn't mean it's a bad show. It just means that some people will never, ever like it. Some people like this kind of humor, the kind of show with things like the Great Rooster. Some people like a more carefully planned kind of humor. Of course, the latter group will hate Apocalypse Lane. That doesn't mean they have to come onto the forums, comment on Apocalypse Lane videos about how crap they are, and leave hateful remarks. If you're one of those people, just check Zero Punctuation every Wednesday. No big deal.

That being said, the show could definitely use some work. I'd like to know who Big Pete is, especially. (Unless, of course, the username of the video maker isn't some strange fourth-wall breaking explanation.) However, from what I've been seeing, it will probably get some work and become more interesting. (You know, like every show on this site that was ever good.) I'm looking forward to next Friday.

I am wondering why this is on a gaming website, though.
Because it's based on Fallout 3 perhaps?

I was pretty good. I louved the art style though, sort of a hybrid between most Seth Mcfarlane stuff and Dr. Suess. Just, don't make to many Gay jokes on the green one, I would make him over optimistic and everyone's reaction to that. The other characters are seperated enough not to be interchangerble. Let's see...

*Father Jack
*Leela's Mum
*Everyman
*Squeaky Homsar
*Eddie Murphy
*My cat with the ability to speak.

See?

Anyone else find that the characters seem to have been pulled almost whole out of other shows? From futurama we have Leela's mother who has tentacle arms, and as I remember there was a mutant with a talking growth on his shoulder, the Mr Garrison/Hat joke isnt exactly origial either, and smart arse animal sidekicks are pretty common now days as well. Waiting to see some true originality in the next ep, otherwise its a write off.
