Yeah I never understood why people said "pearl and diamond were super cool and good!"
Pearl and Diamond don't exist.

Up to crystal the games were very fun, there was alot you could do and leveling wasn't difficult. You also had the incentive of collecting Pokemon and the world was kinda interesting considering the shit you could do. Truth be told I don't know if alot of the stuff I love about it are nostalgia based or whether it still counts as a good game. But like I said, anything past Crystal doesn't exist.

Your pretty dumb. Move on, as they not only do exist but kickass as well (So far only the 2nd and 4th gen are my favorites)

for me its mostly nostalgia that keeps me going back to the series, but once you take that away its actualy a pretty deep RPG all things considered, which comes in handy for scratching that RPG itch

An extremely customizable turn based RPG that looks nice, sounds nice, has good mechanics and gameplay, and has a huge fanbase.

Fail hard in my books, obviously.
Its a matter of opinion and I was just expressing mine really, if you do feel it was worthy of jumping at arms and insulting me however, how about at least differentiating between your and you're.

I'm not sure if nostalgia alone is a fair way to judge games.

Pokemon is great.

I always thought Dragon Warrior Monsters was superior to it, (due to breeding mechanic and three-on-three battling).

Though the recent Pokemon games exceed that old gameboy classic now by far.
(I think DQM: Joker could have been a Pokemon killer, but it fell short a bit for me, (hopefully DQM: Joker 2 shall re-establish superiority! >:D))

I fully agree, but as I said, I'm not sure if its all nostalgia for me or whether it would still stand on its own merits.

Someone explain to me the fun in said game series please.

Never played one obviously, instead I grew up with Half life and GTA games.
You don't get it, you never will.

You weren't raised on these games as I was. You'll never truly understand. Just like I'll never truly understand what is so fun about GTA or what makes any of the Half-Life games rank anywhere above sub-par.

Its a fun series that allows you to design a team of super powered creatures. Watching them evolve and yourself get stronger, you battle your way to the top. It is an awesome strategy game that I really can't stop playing. In my eyes, you would have had to play it in the past to understand.

It's one of those games that can be as deep as you want them to be, and the massive amount of Pokemon means there can be a ton of variety in your playing style.

One person could play through and take advantage of the stat system with a team of Pokemon, or you could take it easy and just train up one super powered Pokemon without knowing how half of the mechanics in the game work.

From game to game they don't vary massively but they do usually add a few new features as well as refined older features. Mostly people just enjoy playing through with a the new variety of Pokemon though.

Hah, I just recently found something I could play legally online. I am addicted to it.

But I used to be so bad at the games. All I would do would be advance the first one you get for the entirety of the game. It would get me all the way to the ending tournament where I would be crushed within the first two or three rounds.

I am playing it with a little stratedgy now, and loving it.

Edit; much of it has to do with nostalgia, but most of it is because it is just a very well made game.

You are always trying to find a way to get your pokemon more advanced and give them an edge, itching for that one lucky time when you encounter a rare pokemon (which happened to me once, and I failed to get it. One of the most dissapointing moments of my life).

Plus, the music and sound effects are extremely advanced and creative for the amount of sound that its soundkey could make.

Half of us are all nostalgia-ing when it comes to Pokeymans. So just download an emulator and play Red, Blue, or Yellow and find out for yourself.

The exploration, the battling, the story (the world history, politics, etc) and of course the Pokemon themselves. Also nostalgia has a firm grip on some of the older Pokemon trainers, like myself for instance.

Since I have a great boss whose rules are he doesn't care what I do so long as the work gets done, I play on my gameboy color, the game being pokemon blue. I got it on Christmas of 1998 when I was 8 years old (thus making me 20 now). I like it because I can play it with one hand while I do my job with the other (fixing computers). The AI is actually pretty good, taking full advantage when they're pokemon is of a type that can whoop my pokemon's pokeass. Not only do I enjoy the gameplay but yeah there is plenty of nostalgia, I felt so young again.
