And remember that Apple use a more durable unibody aluminium casing which is obviously going to cost more in terms of production compared to the plastics of most most third party windows machines.
Also, the Mac unibody case is a heat sync. This means that the mac is virtually silent running - Most windows laptops still use traditional methods of cooling and are therefore, in comparison, loud.
In terms of overhyping a product, it's a marketing strategy that worked and they should be commended for it. It's a commonly used strategy in order to price skim. virtually all electronics and software developers use it to recover R&D costs on release because consumers are irrational. If you didn't understand that sentence, think of Xbox360/PS3. It's also only over hyped because the consumer (you) listens.
In terms of the iPad, I'm not a personal fan. But it's competing with notebooks... Which are heavier, larger and while they may be less versatile than a Dell or Leveno notebook, they sold their 1 millionth iPad in 28 days which shows there is a market for them.

Possibly, but then the Wii did not incorporate media extension services which I would imagine would be the primary function of the Apple console (iTunes store, streaming media). It took them an eternity to realize there was a gaming industry to begin with, and with their senselessly overpriced goldsprayed pieces of shit hardware I don't think their products will be that attractive, at least not to my eye. Plus, a fourth competitor in the gaming market would only mean that it would take even longer time for games to be released, and as we all know by now multiplatformers usually doesn't keep the same high standard as console exclusive titles. It's no fanboy BS, just a hard fact.

That said, I wudn't buy an apple console. I love my iphone, but Apple's denial of things that actually work (such as flash) really have me peeved.
They'd probably call it iConsole, or iStation, or iPlay, or iBox or some other thing 'I' wants to do.

OH YEAH! cant wait to see what it looks like and what its gimmick will be if it even has one, so there will be 4 cooperations competing to get the best selling console.

Nah, there's already too many console brands out. It gets hard enough to choose between the three leading consoles for most people (not me, the only-on-xbox games are too tempting. Although I want inFamous), and if another company started making consoles, the world would fall apart, mass natural disasters would happen, and all of civilisation would be left in ruins as giant mutant space-leopards stormed the world harvesting humans and fucking shit over.
