In personal experience I haven't suffered any myself but I have witnessed it in general and onto others, I just tend to avoid those I suspect my give me grief personally. It's pretty cool most of the time though, mind, there was a lot of homophobia in my secondary school but that happens I guess.

In my school, we still use words like " Dude, that was so gay!", ******, and "No Homo." But all in all, no one really makes fun of gay people. I guess we've really grown out of it.

It's the 21st century, for Christ's sake. I'm surprised there aren't more mentions of heterosexuals and homosexuals getting along in perfect harmony.
But that's the problem. We (humanity) hardly get along, some of the time, let alone live in perfect harmony. So, how can we expect certain people with different sexualities to get along? I highly doubt we'll ever really get along often enough to be able to claim we 'get along' let alone to the point of 'perfect harmony'.

You've got a very tolerant and less-than-normal-judgmental group of kids and teachers at your school. That isn't the case for the majority though.

I haven't seen any homosexuals bullied, persecuted or discriminated against in my school or neighborhood.

But then again, I don't know of a single openly homosexual or bisexual person around where I live.

No they're praised and considered above straight people believe it or not. As if they're completely fragile and made of blown glass and if you have a problem with them that isn't related to their sexual orientation people believe its because of their orientation. On a related note I know people that are asian I can't stand but it isn't because they are asian it's because they are generally horrible individuals.

((Not racist and has no problems of people of any creed (except people who worship the devil) or orientation))

In my country there isnt a lot of persecution. Gay marriage was legalized recently here and nobody made a big fuss about it.

Not at all. Hell, I've seen someone squicked out by a gay kiss (in public) get persecuted by the GAYS. All he did was look a little freaked and he tried to leave, but he couldn't get away in time.

There is no middle ground, it would seem.
Hell, thats what its like here and I live in Texas (though I do live in one of the bigger cities) where apparently we're supposed to hate gays more than foreigners. Most of the time I'm okay with it, its just when people try to shove it in my face and down my throat that I mind, but that's the same way I feel about vegetarians, Republicans, Democrats, etc. I don't mind that you have an opinion but don't be offended when I just don't want to hear it at the moment.
Right freaking on.
Where i live in Texas(Southeast) iv never seen anyone called out or persecuted.
I know it happens in other places but where i live, i cant give any examples.

Nobody is really persecuting homosexuals in my area. Many people come out of the closet, and do so comfortably knowing that we are relatively understanding and tolerant individuals.

For the first few years, my grade was divided into two groups- those who openly expressed their hatred for my (and I do quote directly, here) "disease", and those who were more or less ok with it. Hell, even my friends made the extra effort to sit with a solid gap between us.
Now, though? Things have calmed down; as long as I don't make any reference to yucky gays, everyone just goes about their business as per usual.
'Course, I live in Australia. We are all too busy having beers at the beach to pay any attention to which century we're in. It's about as bad for the new Chinese students, actually.

God, no. I go to a super liberal school. Being homosexual gives you a badge of honor.

Ehhhh, yes and no.

On one hand, I've never heard of any gay/bi people get beaten or killed in Canningvale, where I live.

On another, yes I have been bullied quite badly for being "ghey". It tore apart my self-esteem (along with a few other things) and I'm only now beginning to realise that I could be bisexual or even pansexual, two years after I left school.

I also have Asperger syndrome, so I received insults from that end of the spectrum (no pun intended) as well.

I go to a school where everyone's atheist, yet also extremely homophobic and racist.
It's getting exhausting telling people off.*

*Not for the atheist part, the intolerant failure part. Also, I realize that the people in my school do not depict an accurate cross section of atheists in general.

I've met people who are really accepting, people who don't care, people who don't like it but can be respectful anyway, and people who are vehemently opposed to homosexuality and will be dickpistons (thank you ZP) about it. I will guarantee you there is no city or town where homophobic behaviour "just doesn't happen", just like there are no places where racism just doesn't happen, because there are dickpistons everywhere. But there are lots of places where it's not socially acceptable to treat someone poorly because of the gender of the people they date/sleep with. So, you know, yay.

I can safely say no-one cares up here, our hate is mainly focused on the crazies on both coasts but mostly those dirty californians... They're not welcome up here.
