Ha! I recent that argument! Nothing is mightier than the giant smurf penis!
Not even large smurf breasts in plain view?
Have you never played the sex-version of rock paper scissor?

Penis takes boobs.

Boobs take vagina.

Vagina takes penis.

Yes, I do have one online friend that I would consider a really good friend. I've known him for some years now and it's been a good friendship. Almost 3 years ago he was diagnosed with cancer and I feared I would lose him, but he has managed to survive well so far and I really appreciate having someone like him around online whenever I need it.
Also, it's easier to share certain secrets or bits of information I wouldn't have told my "real" friends, with someone who lives far away and doesn't talk with your other friends.

I always think online friendships fall under one of these two categories.

Either you think of it more like a real friendship and want to develop it more while they just see it as an online thing and your always feeling a bit let down when they treat it as such.

OR

They think of it like a real friendship and you only see it as an online thing.

Such is the irony of life i suppose....

In my mind, a friend is someone who I'd trust with my wallet if I was drunk.

On that basis, yeah, there are a few people on here (as in 3, maybe 4) who I'd consider "friends", two of whom I've actually trusted enough to add them on Facebook, which (being as that's my RL page, not "Wordsmith's" page) is a hell of an honour, I usually automatically ignore anyone I've not spoken to for more than an hour before.

Although, wierdly, I find it strange to think of those people as their real names, rather than their gamertags.

I 've been friends with some norwegian dudes for more than 3 years now and we never saw eachother in person. I consider them real friends and I'm planning on meeting them in the future. Other than that I don't really bother talking to other people online.

Well, the only online people I consider real friends are those that I've known over 3 years, and that's about 6 of them.
They have been someone to talk to, trust, listen to, and are just great friends. There is no way I'd consider them just "virtual friends".

Everyone else.. eh. I don't play online games with anyone and I don't friend people on Xbox Live.

I have made some really close friends on other forums I go on. About half of whom I have never met but will talk to them on the phone, email etc. But I think it may depend on your personality, I am quite open and not really shy so I tend to make friends quite easily.
