You're probably not wrong that most the memes you've seen are American and Japanese, but that is inevitably going to be a product of you presumably not going to any part of the web that is in foreign languages. Do you ever stop and wonder how many websites you could be missing by virtue of them not being in English? That said, the UK itself has loads of memes that don't make it across the pond (the website b3ta.com is practically a farm for them).

I know memes are a world wide phenomenon but I am legitimately surprised to hear about japanese memes. I can only picture them as the original perpetrators of all those fucking annoying animemes and incomprehensible westeru joke memes.
