I bring this up because Hyrule warriors won't have Online support but local player co-op. Also in Mario Kart * you can't talk in the Lobby. On the one hand it would be nice for more Nintendo games to use the internet. I loved Tetris DS internet service and is probably one my faovrite things about the DS.This was back in 2006 and I was amazed that I could play with Japanese Players half way across the world. On the other hand there is so much crap you have to go through while going online these days. Updates signing into your online account, your EA or Ubisoft account, adds for DLC and a bunch of other crap. Not to mention dealing with people on the internet.

I'm at the point where I'm like if a game has online support nice. If it doesn't oh well.
How about you all?

Nintendo has never really interested me so I'll exchange the question for this one: Would I be OK if Microsoft/Sony did not have online support.

In which case, hell to the no I'm not (and is a small contributing factor for why I'm not into the Wii U).

Everyone bemoans the destruction of the "couch co-op" but frankly, I would trade online play for couch co-op every day of the week. Now this is in large part to the fact that I'm 28; friends don't come over to play video games at my age. We're busy people; it's amazing that we get to play with each other through the internet, let alone if I had to have them come here (or me go to them).

So yeah, if you're a multi-player game and you don't have a good online support system, you don't have to bother marketing to me for I will never buy you.

Never really cared much for online support in any kind of console. I'm more of a couch co-op guy.

Can't say I really care about online multiplayer. Unless it's PC. Couch co-op is just fine for consoles.

Considering that most devs seem to be using online as a way to be sloppy about QA, to screw over anyone having bought games used, or to encourage the idea that playing in the same room with another person is a travesty I'm gonna say YES. They're not dependent on online as most companies are, not using it as a crutch as well as remembering that it's supposed to be a SUPPLEMENT for features, not a replacement.

I don't really give a damn about online multiplayer, but the fact that Nintendo doesn't have an account system so you can get your online purchases back when your console breaks is fucking ridiculous. I heard there was a fix in the making and maybe it's already in place, but damn that was pathetic.

Whether you care about online or not the truth is Nintendo is hopelessly behind on the competition. And if they really don't care about online, I'd rather they just scrap it entirely than have this shoddy system.

As long as I have an enjoyable game it really doesn't matter to me if I can play it with a friend online. As a matter of fact I am liking how Nintendo are still allowing me to play a game in the same room at the same time with my friends instead of forcing us to all go home so we can do that.

It's not a huge deal to me. Most Nintendo games I get are either only single player, or the multiplayer part of the game I don't care to much. Any game that I might play multiplayer is on the computer, so I can play online with that. I feel that most people who want online co-op over others is those who play a lot more multiplayer games. I will agree that it would be a bit better to improve online co-op, mainly for smash brothers and Mario kart. Most people who get Nintendo games either play the single player games, or they are in a place where friends are close by that couch co-op is possible, at least in my experience.

I understand that. I didn't really enjoy my wii u until I went back to college where I had more people to play with.

Here, here.

Nintendo gaming hearkens back to days of old, when one could sit in the living room with friends and enjoy some split screen action of Mario Kart and Golden Eye. I think most of my gaming experiences with people physically around me has been on a Nintendo console. I've had my experiences with friends on a Sega and Sony console as well. 92 hours with three friends playing Tales of the Abyss. Good times.

Interestingly enough, I know dedicated PC gamers who enjoy the Gamecube and the Wii because those systems encourage the couch co-op culture. Then again, those gamers are very sociable people. They'll gather together to do anything fun so maybe my point on that is moot.

To answer the topic question: I am perfectly fine with it.

I know if you get system stolen you can call them up and they'll replace your games. I haven't heard of anyone calling to say if they lost it. It is still a pretty bad system. I just hope they adopt PSN's account system and not Xbox live's account system. For some reason it says you can only download games 5 times and on to five machines. That was the last time I checked PSN's user licensing agreement. I think its unlimited downloads and devices probably because they released like 5 PSP's and PS1 classics work with PS3's. With 360 as soon as you sign into another 360 the games become not longer playable on the previous system.

I haven't had to many great conversations in COD Lobbies.
i don't think its restricted to COD. I've even had grief playing Awesomenaughts. I'm all for a bit of trash talk, but anomnimity makes some people go too far and suck the fun right out of the experience.

I say COD because its usually in FPS's I have this problem. In Need for Speed Most Wanted U almost no one uses there MIC even though there is MIC built into the game pad. Granted I haven't played COD for Wii U to know if more people use the MIC.

I honestly couldn't give a shit.

Look at where Sony and Microsoft are now? So many games have tacked on online multiplayer- regardless of whether or not it fits the game- that you now can't do multiplayer anything without paying an additional subscription fee to gain access to a feature you payed $60.00 for.

"Oh, but they have free games as well!" So fucking what. Your ass can't afford online servers, don't fucking put online in your games.

But people just lap that shit up.

I don't know, they do seem to be working towards getting a better online experience because of Splatoon (or at least I hope they are working towards a better online infrastructure) but currently, they are doing the best with what they have now. Mario Kart 8 just released a huge update that talked about improving online so there's that.

The thing with Hyrule Warriors is that the online really unnecessary. As someone who has been a Warriors fan, I can tell you that the online stuff goes dead within a month. From Dynasty Warriors 6 - Samurai Warriors 4, none of Warrior's series has had an online survive a month. Maybe Tecmo Koei (who is designing this game, not Nintendo) decided that the online was a waste of resources and pulled it out to give way to the incredible graphics of Hyrule Warriors.

I'll say what most others are, I'm perfectly fine with it.

It's not really news that Nintendo is the Old Guard, or whatever. So many games nowadays supports "co-op" but only on different screens. Nintendo is the last bastion of "Invite everybody over and have a good time" without lan cables or everyone having to own a copy on steam, and I would take playing a game together with a buddy on a couch over playing a game with a couple of rubes halfway across the earth any day.

I don't really care to be honest, I prefer single player experiences over multiplayer any day. I can see why Nintendo would not appeal to people who do like multiplayer of course since most of their games are strictly single player. The exceptions being Mario Kart, Smash Bros. Mario party, which even then were made for local multiplayer.

As of right now, I think they have gotten their act together at least with Mario Kart 8's online. The real determining factor will be how well the Smash Bros. online works.
