Awesome guys/gals lets keep 'em coming and give as broad of a " sample " as the escapees can offer, the more of us that chime in, the more realistic the numbers can reflect.

on a personal note, I really can't thank you enough, as a mother, and as a gamer and someone who makes a living that it basically fueled by the main demographics targeted by the initial studies, it's offering me in site as well as helping a lil one make his first steps into voicing up when something does not feel quite right.

( okay so alittle bit of my youthful punk side is sneaking in )

Do you feel in your own words, that the use of electronics through the course of a day have affected your life in a negative, or positive way? A world based on electronics saved my life I have worked for best buy full time since i was 16 and being able to become a computer tech for geek squad was the only way i could afford to move out and pay for school without the digital age it would have been far harder for me to find a job that could pay what i needed to get my degree without already having one. Also I play a lot of games over the internet with my dad and sister it keeps us in touch even when we don't have a lot to talk about.

If yes do you think modern media ( tv,games, music etc) has played a major role in your choice? Not at all. I do what I want. I don't watch tv actually.

Are you over weight/obese? Nope.

if yes, one to five..how much have the above mentioned activities contributed to the issue? ( 1 being none - 5 being a major factor) n/a

do you smoke/formerly? I quit on January 28th.

if yes, one to five..how much have the above mentioned activities contributed to the issue? ( 1 being none - 5 being a major factor) No. I started because when I was young and my mom smoked. I quit because I was sick of coughing and not being able to walk up stairs without feeling like my lungs were going to implode.

do you drink? Sure do.

if yes, one to five..how much have the above mentioned activities contributed to the issue? ( 1 being none - 5 being a major factor) Once again, no. I drink in social situations and I do like to enjoy a drink every now and then when I'm at home relaxing.

do you feel in your own words, that the use of electronics through the course of a day have affected your life in a negative, or positive way? Well, I'm on a computer all day at work for my job and I even though my job can be rough at times, yeah, I do feel I'm lucky to have my job so it is a positive thing.

overweight: Only 5kg. Regular gym visitor. Affected by usage of eletronic interaction? 1, it's caused by bad allergy drugs that decrease(d) methabolism. Also, allergy itself is a major reason for that problem.
smoke: Hell no, asthma.
drink: Nope, blood pressure.
Do you feel in your own words, that the use of electronics through the course of a day has affected your life in a negative, or positive way?: Positive way. I don't have to pay for Sudoku, I have it on my cellphone. I also can perfect my English and Spanish while not at school, something I can't do without the electronics.

If yes do you think modern media ( tv,games, music etc) has played a major role in your choice? Yes, I think everyone at least subconsciously absorbs modern media and it has some bearing on your choice

Are you over weight/obese? No

do you smoke/formerly? I used to smoke pot in high school and a little in college

if yes, one to five..how much have the above mentioned activities contributed to the issue? 2, I lived in a small town and there wasn't that much to do. I figured I may as well try it before I turn 18 and can get in real legal trouble.

do you drink? Yeppers

if yes, one to five..how much have the above mentioned activities contributed to the issue? 2, I wouldn't say modern media played a roll in me drinking. I do it socially and because I can and because a glass of red wine helps me sleep.

do you feel in your own words, that the use of electronics through the course of a day have affected your life in a negative, or positive way? Positive, though in the IT profession the more immersed in electronics I am the more knowledgeable/marketable I become. I am well aware that I will be spending more of my life interacting with a cold lifeless machine than with real people and it doesn't bother me. I still get out and I haven't become a basement dweller like some techs I've met.

do you feel in your own words, that the use of electronics through the course of a day have affected your life in a negative, or positive way?

First off, as I've said I am sexually active, and I do smoke and drink (although I'm actually pretty thin). I really don't see how any of this could possibly be tied to my listening to music/going online/playing videogames though. Actually more of these things seem (to me) to stem from my interaction with the music world.

Not to say that I believe any of these things are particularly negative (for me) however. I'm sexually active, but I'm also 26 and I've got a fairly healthy sexual life.

I drink, but it's mainly a social lubricant, and I only like girly drinks with umbrellas (that's got to count for something). I rarely if ever drink to the point of excess.

It's arguable that there's no way smoking can be anything but a negative, but for what it's worth I'm not a regular smoker. I've got this whole idea that part of the reason why we've got such an addiction to tobacco problem is that people separate themselves into these two binary categories of smoker/nonsmoker, and when labeled as 'the smoker' feel more enabled to overdo it. For what it's worth, I smoke a cigarette maybe once or twice a week, I've never felt overly compelled to smoke, and I've never bought my own pack. Might this still one day kill me? Possibly, maybe definitely contribute, but I've made peace with that.

Woah, got off on a little tangent there. Mainly I just wanted to point out the fact that 1) i really don't believe my use of electronics contributed in any way to these things, and 2) I don't necessarily perceive these things as negative factors in my life.

Yes in a positive way violence in video games help me vent frustrations as opposed to bottling them up and taking them into a tower XP as well I look at video games as the true modern art with various levels and shapes was well with a story there is something undeniable about the beauty of games.

Wait, playing six hours a day or more of video games makes you MORE sexually active? I'd better start playing more video games.

Do you feel, in your own words, that the use of electronics through the course of a day have affected your life in a negative or positive way?

In regards to the topic itself, I believe the thesis that people who show signs of higher use of the internet has no direct correlation, positive or negative, to doing things such as drinking, smoking, or becoming sexually active. This is controlled entirely by one's personal morals, and exposure. Though media can easily expose someone to these elements, having family members who do any of the above, being around individuals who do so (School, Work, Army, etc.) seem as likely suspects as the electronic media.

Though I'd be more sold on the idea of leading to an increased exposure, especially where home-schooled students and the like are concerned.

do you feel in your own words, that the use of electronics through the course of a day have affected your life in a negative, or positive way?

Very positive. I don't use them passively but as a way to understand the world better. Electronic media have the most direct connection to the world of expressive art. They are the new painter's gallery, theater stage, or musician's studio. Video games, as the newest form of expression, revitalize old genres and show a modern revisionist interpretation of them, for good or for bad. Self-appointed social watchdogs are always quick to demonize new forms of entertainment they don't quite understand, this time with unclarified and unvarifiable statistical data (even good data can be misinterpreted if you want to badly enough). Before video games, it was television. Before that it was graphic content in movies. Before that it was rock 'n roll. Before that it was lascivious literature. Before that it was theatre in general. There are always going to be people who just don't get it and will let their fear commandeer their rationality. Rest assured that you are having way more fun living your life than they are theirs.

On a side note, gaming in general, I would say has effected me negatively. I haven't become obese, and as I've stated I don't smoke or drink or have sex because of gaming.

With that said, gaming specifically (in my opinion) has interrupted time where I could be doing more productive things creatively speaking. This is probably why I don't game nearly as much these days as I used to. Although I love 'em to death, I get much more fulfillment out of creative endeavors.
