I was agreeing with you that the little blurb you gave me was the study being taken out of context.

Not you. I agree with you that somewhere, this got blown out of proportion. That's the media for you, though.
sorry english is translating wonky in my head :p

I think what is getting me most is that they never once say " pre-disposed", or " high-risk" their wording seems to paint the image of every and all.. thats what set my 8year old off too.

Do you feel in your own words, that the use of electronics through the course of a day have affected your life in a negative, or positive way? Both but primarily positive. I'm sure my body would be better off if I was a more active person, but my mind has travelled to so many more places because of electronics.

NOTE: In the case of smoking, at least, television has contributed to my decision not to smoke.

I don't think electronics have shaped my life in any particular way. Gaming relieves boredom, but isn't that what it's supposed to do? I use a PC to get work done, they help me get it done faster, so I guess that's positive.

A very positive way. They provide cheap and quick entertainment, can be used to blow off steam and provide escapism.

Negative. They've made me way to lazy, but I wouldn't want to live in a world without them.

Both. Negative in reducing my social interaction, but positive through forum and blogs where I can get a feel of many different perspectives as well as being another information source.

Are you over weight/obese? A bit. I'm 5'8'' and about 220. I just like to eat, but I exercise when I can.

Do you smoke/formerly? No.

Do you drink? No.

Do you feel in your own words, that the use of electronics through the course of a day have affected your life in a negative, or positive way?

No. They are games, nothing more or less. They've affected my life in that they've become one of my hobbies and enriched it in the typical manner of anything that one enjoys doing, but I don't attach any special significance to my experiences with games as compared with any other enjoyable forms of media.

No; I've always been comfortable with my own sexuality, as has my girlfriend.

Are you over weight/obese? Y

2 - I don't exercise, but it's mostly because I'm too busy with university.

do you smoke/formerly? N

I believe that other people have a much larger influence on this than television, etc.

do you drink? Y

1 - I only drink in social settings, and never to excess. This is a personal choice and was not influenced by technology in any way.

I feel that I have benefitted greatly; I am extremely adept at problem solving because of the time I spend programming and simply screwing around with my computer. I've learned a lot from television, and, obviously, the internet. Also, as an undergrad in computer science, technology will be my livelihood.

overweight/obese? I took a Body mass index test where the max score for "healthy weight" was 24.9, i got 25, so I guess I am.
caused by Video games? perhaps 2 out of 5.
do I smoke? no
do I drink? only for religious reasons. (half my family is Jewish, so a lot of the holidays/festivals involve wine)
therefore... affected/caused by video games? 0 out of 5.

I do not feel that electronics have significantly affected my life for better or worse. they are for entertainment purposes only, or, in the case of my school laptop, for educational purposes.

Let me guess... The "specialists" that made the original survey are thetruth.com.

do you feel in your own words, that the use of electronics through the course of a day have affected your life in a negative, or positive way?

I feel that my life has been affected in a positive way by the use of electronics. I am much more aware of what is going on in current events, I have friends all around the world due to online gaming, I have stress relief in comedy show/movies and by playing video games. I also have a quick, easy way to communicate with my family, friends, boss, etc.. due to electronics. I view all these things as good things.
Not a single negative thing in my life, other than owing $1000 on my credit card for my TV, can be attributed to electronics. I started smoking because I thought it was "cool" from seeing family members and friends do it (I was 13). I started drinking when I was 23 and I don't DRINK, I drink once in a while. I began having sex because I was horny and wanted to, I never saw porn until I was 15-16 (first had sex at 13).
I still do everything I need to do and more, but I enjoy electronics. I do believe that if used improperly (parents that believe TV should teach their children and not them) that media can create negative behavior, but this is the fault of the parents not properly teaching their children and not the fault of the movie or video game.

If I didn't have stuff to do like video games, internet, and TV I would probably get bored and occupy that time with other "things".
