The Evil overlord list has this thread sewn up: http://www.eviloverlord.com/lists/overlord.html
Damn... I was going to link to that.

Personal favoriate is 100: Finally, to keep my subjects permanently locked in a mindless trance, I will provide each of them with free unlimited Internet access.

EDIT: Also, here's the full list [http://legendspbem.angelfire.com/eviloverlordlist.html]. Expect to take a full hour to review it.

My personal favoriate from this list: said:
All guards (and other workers) will be entitled to three weeks paid vacation a year after one full year's employment, will be covered (after that same period) by comprehensive medical and dental insurance (paid by me, the Evil Overlord) for themselves and spouse/companion and all dependents. They will have regularly scheduled pay-raises for every five years with which they remain in my employ as well as annual, merit-based bonuses. Stock options and retirement plans will be made available after five years of employment along with favorably termed loans for home improvement, education and debt consolidation. Any employee disabled in my service will receive a lifetime pension. Every year, my organization will make a few sizable college scholarships available for the most qualified of the dependents of my employees. Upon leaving my employ they will be constrained from working for any competitor or adversary for a period of not less than five years. All dismissals (as opposed to termination on their part) will be accompanied by a payment of one month's salary as termination pay and an excellent recommendation (regardless of cause for dismissal). Good will is more valuable than terror on the part of my employees.

A villain who pisses off the protagonist in some way, you just know that's gonna bite them in the ass.

bowser it's got to be bowser the most self-defeating boss character of all time, in super mario world he had that axe behind him that destroyed the bridge, in super mario world 3 he threw the little things at you that allowed you to kill him, the list goes on and on if he was really invested in what he does he would just get a gun waste the plumber and then do what ever it is he has need of princess peach for, maybe to make bowser jr the second?
uuuuummm, Super Mario World? I think you mean Super Mario brothers, and SUper Mario World 3? I think you mean Super Mario World 1

I hate when villains of any sort let the "good guy" go... seriously. Put a bullet/arrow/sword/rocket/spoon in his head and get it over with.

One example would be the priest in Battle of Forli DLC for Assassin's Creed 2.
The priest sees Ezio on the groud and takes the Apple from him. There was bound to be a sword or dagger laying around since Ezio just killed one of the brothers; why didn't he just pick one up and stab him?

If you're evil, go full evil.

I'm going to make a broad statement about dumb villains...the ones that have their enemy where in their clutches and ready for the kill but instead of finishing the job they spend 10 mins talking and making some big speech.
Not to mention revealing their entire dastardly plot and the only way to stop it. Oh wait--I'm thinking Bond movies or somethin'.

As for me:
The villains that actually help you more than they hurt you. It's cool to their character, but in theory it's stupid.
That or the ones that think sending millions more of the basic footsoldiers that I've killed billions of will kill me. Wait--then I'm just inside an RTS that I'm playing myself...

Argh. How massive can a spoiler possibly be? Seriously, PLEASE use spoiler tags, even if you might think this is common knowledge.
Everything happening in this post was given away in the reveal trailer at E3 like 2 years ago. Also, even if you hadn't seen it, you would know all this stuff within 20 minutes of starting a game.

So its not a very big spoiler.

Mine would be the Collectors destroying the Normandy and killing commander Shepard.
That works much better, and doesn't ruin the game for me that I had been deliberately avoiding spoilers for until I could actually get the game.
You could have at least said "In ME2 when the gumdrop king lets you take over his throne"

OT; Bosses having "vulnerable" stages that they can't do anything in between attacks, it seems a it silly to me.
Don't worry. See above.

Andrew Ryan. I suppose he was making a point, but why does he need to
get killed to do it?
A proper dictator would use the escape submarine at that point.
I think he had more faith in Jack/less knowledge knowledge of the gravity of the situation Jack was in, and so felt happy that his point could be made. (Woo for avoiding spoilers and not using spoiler tags!)

All villians suffer from PISS. PLOT INDUCED STUPIDITY SYNDROME.

Villians have to be dumb, otherwise they'd clearly win. Hence why in real life the badguys ALWAYS win.

Okay so I want to hear the dumbest thing you have ever seen a villain or a bad faction in a video game do?

They just wasted resources. Sure it allows the game to play out the way it does but they could have captured the Normandy and make Shepard they're slave. Just implant a chip in his brain and boom. They could have allowed you to escape from them with the Normandy, grab a team, then deal with the collectors. Doesn't it make sense?

Y'know, for the other nine hundred and ninety nine billion people in the universe (that aren't Krogans), killing them once is enough.

And they did put a fair bit of effort into finding the body, so they did try and make sure.

Generally, the worst thing you can do as a villain is to tell the hero your plan before you kill them. And to attach them to some sort of death machine while you leave the room, assuming it will kill them. Seriously, why don't you just pull out a gun, and SHOOT THEM IN THE FACE!

You, for making such a spoiler and not knowing how to make spoilers

Stipid and evil.
Expect to be hearing answers like mine for a while.

Otherwise, I would have to say Dr. Robotnik, for taking the time to make Evil bean-using robots.
I do know how to make spoilers i just wasn't thinking. The trailer KINDA gives it away anyways. before even playing the game I gathered that
the ship was destroyed.

THANK YOU. Actually after viewing all of the videos released by Bioware about ME2 I could figure out a good chunk of the plot.

In every game, movie, comic, manga, whatever, the bad guy at some point will capture or have a perfect opportunity to kill the main character and they will screw up somehow, by just tying them up, or starting a monologue or not killing them right away.

Alma, for making me rage on Nightmare.

OT - The robot from 'splosion man. Lasers = Instakill, but rockets = reflect-o-kill. Why not just use lasers the whole time?
Because not everybody can have lasers. They're generally kept for super-cool bosses. Unfortunate, I know.
