Now of course, a picture of one person does not usually represent the gamer.

Here (and I feel so dirty about this) I've compiled the peeps who game with me on Ventrilo. Some more than others.

I'm sure you can see that every person here is hot, and thus can conclude that gamers are the most beautiful people on the planet.

I am reasonably attractive considering I'm allowed to go out of the house without wearing a paper bag on my head.

In answer to the OP, yes, I'm a geek and most people find me good looking. Was this thread just an excuse to get free photos of attractive nerds?
Hahahahaha...No.

WELL, Apparently my sister agrees with you, and now she wants to know the Range of age of gamers who are not fat geeks.
While she is now somewhat more convinced that it's just an stereotype, she wants to know how many gamers are over 20 years, that apprently are either working or studying in collegue, what i understand from that is that she doent understand is how gamers over 20 years find time to be playing a considerable ammount of time...but i guess that material for another, dreary topic?
I'm 23. Graduated with a Masters, late last year.
And I only find time when I'm unemployed (which is commonly the case) and not around my girlfriend (also commonly the case).

You look a lot like the Dean guy that did the face acting videos for bad video game voice acting clips
And he looks suspiciously like Donald Sutherland. And the three of us have never been seen in the same room at the same time...

May i say you are gorgeous without sounding like a stalker?
Because you totally are, and i'm totally not ( a stalker)
That should read "Not a stalker yet".

Every time I see an attractive girl who plays games my faith in humanity returns ever so slightly and I am filled with renewed hope of finding a woman who will actually understand me... ah well, back to the grindfest that is RL.

Personell apperance has nothing do with people's hobbies. If you think someone is good looking thats your personell opinion, other people may disagree. I play alot of videogames, I woudn't consider myself good-looking, don't wear glasses, underweight. Videogames are practically the only thing I do, but thats because I enjoy it and don't want to do anything else with my life because I'm happy with this one. Do not call me a no life, because there is no such words everybody has a life its just what they choose to do with it. If I didn't have a life, I'll be dead or never even born.

This is me, in the middle. My two best friends on the side, one is a hardcore Mount and Bland player, the other one loves fps games. As for me, I'm more of a World of Warcraft guy, R I hots?
Fuck if I know.

Yeah I know you saad the arguement is over but should it happen again you could use this http://www.atmaxplorer.com/2010/11/meet-asias-1-diamond-player-in-starcraft-2/
The link is a hot Asian girl who is one of the top rank players which I would think being able to reach that type of ranks is somewhat geeky.

You offer yourself as evidence. The epitome of anecdotal evidence. You couldn't get a more biased case study if you tried.

So you're a self professed intellectual and a sporty person! :O
So then, from an objective point of view (based on this info) I'd conclude that you're not a 'gamer'. Because being a gamer involves a whole load of social conventions and implicit meaning beyond 'playing games'.
I own every system, I have been watching the full coverage of E3, I go to every gaming convention I can including Digital Overload and PAX East. I play WoW and D&D so yes I would consider myself a gamer. I also watch every Pats and Sox game of the season, and attended and host Super Bowl parties with/for my friends. I also focus on my studies, working on my masters at the moment with a 4.0 and can hold my own in debates against the professors.

If you're honestly thinking that I'm calling everyone whos played a game introverted, or ugly or whatever then I'd say you're deliberately misinterpreting me to flex your 'intellectual' muscles.
People who call themselves "gamers" and use it to define their existence are usually not aesthetically appealing. There's usually something unsavoury about them. Whereas a "sports person" spends a lot of time getting fit and interacting with people and "intellectuals" spend a lot of time communicating with people.

Introversion doesn't make pretty people, 'gamers' have a natural disadvantage.
It seems that you are saying that most people who call themselves gamers are introverts and as a rule are not attractive
So you're not an introvert then.

in·tro·vert/ˈintrəˌvərt/Noun
1. A shy, reticent, and typically self-centered person.
"Introverts, in contrast, tend to be more reserved, less outgoing, and less sociable. They are not necessarily loners but they tend to have fewer numbers of friends. Introversion does not describe social discomfort but rather social preference: an introvert may not be shy but may merely prefer less social activities."
"introverted - introspective: given to examining own sensory and perceptual experiences"
"introversion - (psychology) an introverted disposition; concern with one's own thoughts and feelings"
"introverted - Possessing the characteristic property of an introvert. Preferring the internal, satisfied with self, lacking interest or comfort in social interactions"
So yes I am an introvert but just because social interactions don't always interest me it doesn't me that I am shy or unapproachable.

If your sister wants to see good-looking gamers IRL, just take her to a gamer-con (tabletop and cards preferably). You don't get much nerdier than that.

I was at one here in Sweden last week, and I'd say that about 20% was the fat stereotype. Another 20% were the skinny nerds, and the rest ranged from pretty decent to goddamn model material.

Now, since I can't seem to manage to upload my pic to my profile, I won't post it. Thank the Emperor for small favours =P

WHAT IS BEAUTY!?

This is one of those questions that can't be answered properly, because its highly subjective. What is attractive to one person, may not be attractive to another.

For instance, you mentioned Ben Croshaw (i don't really know what to call him, so i will just use his first name), and said that you thought he was quite good looking. I would have to disagree with you. Not that he's ugly, he just isnt very attractive looking in my opinion.

So yeah, you can't REALLY say whether the stereotype of a nerd is attractive or not, until absolutely every single person on the planet agrees one way or the other.

In all honesty I just had a quick look at your post history. I had to write something beside "good looking, good looking, good looking" didn't I?

Pick you up at 8? XD

Wow. What's your point?

I hope that in your debates with your professors you listen a little more actively. I already suggested that anecdotal evidence about how awesome you are is irrelevant.

I'm the Queen of England I should know!
So you're not an introvert then.

I'm not going to sit here and pretend to know you better than you, at the same time you can hardly act like knowledge of who you are gives you an advantage over me.

What you're basically saying is this:
"Look at me, I'm awesome, smart, sporty and a hardcore gamer. I'm attractive, thus your argument is invalid"
Depsite the fact that we're already talking about a stereotype that you clearly don't fit. You're acting as though I'm suggesting "herp derp all gamers are ugly" even though I've alreay repeatedly stated that is not the case.

If you honestly thought that The OP couldn't figure out for themselves that there was at least 1 handsome/pretty gamer then I don't know what to say to you. We're arguing completely different things. Still, we can just continue talking about you if you like, you introvert :p.

Oh yeah, I keep forgetting that the profile shows the last few posts XD I never update or look at that thing.

If you can drive to the middle of nowhere, Kentucky in a single day, sure. I need a break from my weekends of non-stop Dragon Age.
