Games(combined with movies and cartoons) taught me English.

The only problem is that it's about 75% American, and I find that it's almost impossible to change to British.

Also, that hoverboard levels in mines that involve half-pipes are frustrating as fuck!

I don't remember anything that bad in Jak II... maybe that's just because it's been ages since I've played it, though.

I do remember the game had some pretty asinine vehicle sections, though.

"The best way to blow off steam is to blow off someone's nadgers."

Personally, I like giving myself a rocket launcher in the original Half-Life and reducing every enemy in sight to a pile of gibs.

L4D2 - Taught me that so long as I have a guitar and/or a frying pan in a zombie apocalypse, I can almost make it to the chopper. Always handy to know when living in a house of musicians.

The Total War games especially the first, Shogun, taught me the logistical difficulties of getting a large army and moving it across a country to fight in a far off land.

AC2 has taught me that as long as I push gently on someones shoulder I can get through a crowd. (Ok, I may have know that before)

Halo. Taught me that video games could tell great stories.

Final Fantasy VII. Taught me that video games could tell absolutely mindblowing stories.

Then Bioshock. Taught me that video games could tell stories in ways nothing else can.

I think Resident Evil four has taught me that I have a lot more stabbity/murderous tendencies that I realized that I had and somehow killing things fills me with this odd sense of glee. Same goes for Shadow of the Colossus.

I learned something very important from Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. That being, don't mess with chickens cause they don't fight fair.

When Kingdom Hearts came out, it was widely criticized by my "super hardcore" group of friends as sugar-encrusted, Disney infused kiddie fare. Of course, none of us had actually played the game, but we were in the 6th grade, and you all know how gamers of that age tend to act.

Anyway, my sister ended up renting it, and I, still being hypnotized, scoffed. As I watched her play, though, I grew interested enough to start my own game. I told myself I was doing it to see what other Final Fantasy characters cameoed, but honestly, I think I was just enamored with the game's honest sense of magic and wonder.

That game remains one of my all-time favorites to this day, and I play through it at least once a year. It was the game that taught me a very important truth about video games: Dismissing a promising game because it isn't a blood and guts slaughterfest, or an M-rated space FPS, is foolhardy.

Opflash- If people are shooting at you always stay prone, no matter what.

Hearts Of Iron:2 Doomsday and 3- That war is actually bloody difficult to organise properly

paradox Grand strategy titles- world history (seriously, Historical accuracy is a must for some of the modders!)

Multiplayer FPSs- most people (probably including me) are, deep down inside, griefers to some extent. Bastards.

This actually seems somewhat similar to my own experience. I have played the first two Kingdom Hearts games, though. I'm not a huge fan of the series, but I enjoyed them quite a lot. Never did get around to beating Sephiroth in 2, though...

I'm noticing a lot of people are holding Bioshock in pretty high regard too; and rightly so. I find the game has a whole undercurrent of 'this is what happens when initially good ideas are carried through without some sort of moderation or morality'. Things go to hell in a handbasket, and seeing all those disfigured and mindless Splicers, and hearing their idle mumblings when they haven't seen you yet, is actually really unsettling.

Not to mention the "Oh SHIT." moment when you realise the significance of the phrase 'would you kindly'.

Don't do the crime if you arn't ready to be punnished. Basically any silent hill except 1/3. Murder your wife, kill a dog, murder your evil-pedofile dad and silent hill will punish you.

World of Warcraft and Left 4 Dead (to a lesser extent) taught me the importance of teamwork, something I hadn't really got before due to not being that into the olde sports

Black and White 2 taught me that feeding my pets villagers wil lmake them strong!

On a serious note though Final Fantasy 7 taught me that if you really want something, for example the death of Sephiroth, then all you have to do is work hard and stick with it.
