Runescape is a really good one, new players are always treated good (in members worlds atleast)

Monster Hunter Tri, the more experienced players are always glad to help new guys.

Rainbow Six Vegas, because so little people play it anymore you get in lobbies with the same people all the time. Team kills are easily forgiven and people apologize when they do something stupid (gassing your own team mates when they aren't wearing gas masks). Very few try hards, very few 12 year olds screaming in the mic, no DJs.

Red Orchestra has a good community

as long as you stay away from the forums WoW has a pretty good community (but last time i played was over a year ago so my opinion my be outdated)

if you stay away from Vs mode Left 4 Dead generally is good

I never really got into Starcraft 2, but from what I've played of it the people are really nice. I'm terrible at the game, and this one guy who completely spanked me basically offered to teach me a few things. Quite nice indeed.

You have to compare multiplayer gaming to cities; every online community has their rough and good neighbourhoods. True, some are more like Detroit (CoD, WoW) but there are plenty that are more like Amsterdam (TF2, AoC).

But even the worst town has their good spots, you just have to scout them out.

Runescape is surprisingly good.
That's only true if you're a member. Otherwise, the free-to-play community is 60% bots, 20% 5-year-olds, 10% scammers and 10% alright guys. (OK, the statistics are quite exaggerated, but you get the gist.)
