Are there genuine reasons for hatred against Square Enix?

Point The First: Not liking games developed by a company who previously created games you did like is about as "genuine" a reason as you can get for not liking a company.
This pretty much summed it up for me...I mean I used to LOVE Square back when they were Squaresoft and I'll admit for a few years into becoming SquareEnix.

Legend of Mana is my favorite video game ever, Final Fantasy Tactics I think has one of the best stories in all of video games, I absolutely loved FFIX and still replay it sometimes, and I can say some nice stuff about FFXII or FFTA to go into the Enix side of things.

But honestly, I'd say in the past...5 years or so the nicest thing I can say about SquareEnix is "Bravely Default was kind of okay." but I still didn't even like it enough to finish playing it all the way through.

And yeah, SquareEniz has pulled out quite a few dickish moves into the business practice world, ESPECIALLY in their iOS games.

I don't have any genuine reasons to hate Square Enix because they've done a fantastic job of Final fantasy XIV:A Realm Reborn especially the control set up for the PS3 it actually feels more natural than a keyboard and mouse and i think Square Enix will do a brilliant job of Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn Heavensward especially since Heavensward is supposed to have as much content as the base game.

Compare the likes of Auron & Kimari to this boy band quartet we're presented with. I just don't know what to say.
I'm far more interested in FFXV's protagonists and the possible dynamics between them than Mr. I'm-a-sunglasses-wearing-samurai-who's-trying-too-hard-to-hit-every-"badass"-note. But that's personal opinion.

And frankly (this is not to any specific person), there's so many fish in the sea that complaining about a fishing spot that doesn't get you catches you want seems like a bit of a waste of time.
Like you say, it's opinion. But you have to be fair, there was way more to Auron than that. His reveal at the end, whilst not entirely unpredictable, still carried a large amount of weight and watching the story told from both his perspective 1st time round and his journey with Yuna was great I thought.

The new boy band types just seem so generic and predictable. Essentially in Auron you had a Japanese samurai, and in Kimari you had a native indian warrior, both with backstories to see what shaped them. These new characters may have that, but their image & personas so far seem generic and bland.

They could turn out to be very interesting, but on the surface there's little to entice me so far and, to put a finer point on it, none of them seem very "badass" at all. You had Tidus, Yuna & Rikku for the softies, Wakka in the middle, and Auron & Kimari for the baddass lovers. These new characters all look soft as shit tbh.

Other than what's been going on with FFVII ever since the tech-demo of the PS3 and the "new" ps4 release lets just say the company as a whole has been shit.

They release FFXIII on PC which is fantastic! But...

1 - It runs like shit, wasn't able to achieve 60fps on launch day without using a 3rd party program.
2 - IT HAD NO OPTIONS AVAILABLE AND RAN ON A LOCKED 720p RESOLUTION (You couldn't even stretch the game to fit your screen. I was stuck with have my screen being a black bar. )
3 - The same guy who fixed Dark Souls on PC fixed this game within the hour again.Talking about fixes....
4 - IT TOOK THEM 2 MONTHS AND A HALF TO PATCH THE GAME JUST TO HAVE SOME RESOLUTION OPTIONS! 2 FUCKING MONTHS!
5 - It still ran like shit most of the time and the complaints still go to this day on the forums.

So you think they would listen, and make sure the launch of FFXIII-2 on PC would be smoother and more optimized...
HAAAAAA! Yea. No.

- IT RUNS WORSE THAN THE FIRST GAME! (Most zones are locked to 20-30 FPS)
- Lets not even talking about the huge Flan boss fight......
- If you leave a zone and load another timeline to quickly the game crashes (Multiple users reported this, it happens to me as well )
- Multiple users report a buzzing noise if they play with headphones, so they couldn't even get the sound right..
- Rain texture is glitchy as fuck and should have been a quick fix but yea.. Nope.

So all in all, they don't listen. They expect results with these quick cash-ins on PC yet when we try to tell them that there product is faulty we either get automated messages and little to no attention on the actual fixing.

Here's a review on the games from the same guy who made Gedosato. By all means, read it and if you played either of these games you'll probably understand.
