Well, the have rather gone down in quality; in terms of songs over each new guitar hero, Max playing real guitar is far more rewarding and and overall more pleasureable experience.

They make lots of monies so they will keep making games. S'why I like rockband better they just make things you can download instead of buying a new game.

And now there's Rock Band too.

GO OUT AND PLAY A REAL INSTRUMENT, GEEZ!

EDIT: MAYBE START A REAL ROCKBAND TOO!

It's alot easier to press blue, green, red like a quicktime event then actually learn an instrument, and then learn songs, and then be good at it.

Thus the appeal of the game.

I think the number of Guitar Heroes is okay. But the number of off spin products is now clearly just a massive cash cow.

I mean, BAND HERO!

DJ HERO!

I thought DJ Hero was a hoax, I thought someone photoshopped it for a joke and then I learned it was real! Okay so learning guitar, drums etc might be hard but learning to be a DJ is actually much easier.
It's just a game chill out did it ever occur to you maybe some people don't WANT to be in a band they just want to play a fun party video game?

Speaking as someone who tried his hand at DJ'ing. (and failed miserably) It is much harder than it looks and is just as difficult as learning to play any other instrament. Especially, in the 'scratching' sense that DJ Hero looks like it's set in.

- DJ Thunderous

(I also have played Bass, Mandolin, and Banjo for 17 years FYI)

There are plenty of "real" musicians, myself included, who still play games like Guitar Hero.
Because it's fun. Not to mention that even if you are a member of a rock band, the chances of actually attaining the lifestyle presented in such games are incredibly small - so why wouldn't you want to emulate the lifestyle instead of staking everything on something that more likely than not will never happen?

I don't like them (boring, and I play Piano, what the hell am I gonna do?)

I do, however, respect that people enjoy them, and there's a serious market for the stuff.

What I can't stand is people who belive that becasue they aced so-and-so on Rock Hero or Guitar Band or whatever you younglings play, that puts them on a par with me or my brother or anyone else who plays a proper instrument. I don't deny that people can have fun on these games without learning an instrument, and it takes some skill to play the hard songs very well

But PLEASE, when I recount my performance of "In the Mood", or my brother does a guitar solo, or my mate plays "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor" or me and my mates do a Barbershop song, DON'T think you can act like an equal. 100% Through Fire and Flames is admirable, but it's not musical, go away

Please tell me that's sarcastic!
No.
It's not hard.
People back in the days (You know... PRE-Guitar Hero) started "garagebands" every day.
Now?
They pretend to have bands.
In a game.
Even I, as a extreme anti-socialist, find that stupid
Ok.
First of all people still have garage bands (like me for instance) so it's not like you're losing anything from people playing it. People don't even pretend like it's anything like having actual band or playing an actual instrument. People don't play it any more excessively than people would get together to play any other 4 player game.

Also what's the big difference between this and people "pretending" to be airline pilots by playing flight simulator (I actually know one person who thinks he could fly a plane just because he plays that game), or people "pretending" to be soldiers from playing Call of Duty (again a load of people I know think they know all there is to know about guns because they play it obsessively).

The only reason that people like you are bashing it is because of the peripherals which do nothing but make it a better game. Also have you considered how many bands have found fame through music games or people that have found bands? I found Tool through GH:WT and now they're my favourite band.
