You know, I was hesitant to cry foul, at first.
But then, by chance, I caught the end of Jedi the other night on Spike. And you know what? Vader being silent as he decides his course and throws the emperor around makes a stronger case for the character. It keeps him attached to the concept that he really wanted to help his children, rather than be some kind of cartoon villain suddenly gifted a change of heart given the sight of his child, and chief antagonist, being tortured. It reinforced the original teachings of his youth, no matter how much you despise those CGI horrorfests.
So no. I don't think so. There was amazing, once. But changing amazing ultimately makes it, well, not amazing. This is a lesson Lucas needs to learn.
