Are you a compulsive saver?

Hello fellow Escapists.

I bring to you a question. Do you save alot in any game you are playing?

I only ask this question because I have come to realize that I am one. At moment of writing, I am 27 hours 54 minutes in Dragon Age Origins and I have saved a WHOPPING 511 times. Maybe its because I like to see all the options before I like to decide on one, or maybe it is because everytime I enter a room I fear that a cut scene will happen in which I must make a choice. Hell, my ME2 playthrough I saved like 400+ times with my female Commander Shepard.

Now I know I probably won't be getting people who save as often as I do. (Although, people that do sure are welcome!)

Anyway, how often do you all save when playing games?

I save every other minute in fallout 1 because I am terrible at it because it is my first PC game so I DIE ALL THE TIME.

Nope. I ususally find myself dead and out of around three hours of work because I rely too much on the autosave feature. I do have somewhere around 300 saves in Oblivion but that's across multiple characters.

Only when I am guaranteed to need to load further back than the point I just saved.
If I suddenly find myself needing to reload just a little behind the point I'm at I will somehow have avoided saving for the past few hours.

You'd think I'd eventually learn to make multiple fucking saves and quit being such a memory-miser, but nooo.

When I'm playing on PC and able to bind quick save I do, but I don't think I save more often than most people on other games.

I save quite often. As a new gamer, I didn't...and then had to replay almost an hour's worth of work a couple times. After that, I wised up and saved as often as they'd give me a save point. In DA:O, I took the advice of the load screen that said, "You never know when you might walk into a dragon's lair. Save often" and saved as often as I thought of it. I don't have the actual stats on my save scores, but I reckon they're pretty high.

Most games are pretty easy, but if I think there is a major plot point in an rpg coming up I save there in case I change my mind... sadly this practice was a bad idea for a few games that I got angry at for losing 5 hours of work only to find out there is no auto save.

Oops

Yes, I save a lot. A recent example is when I was playing Resident Evil 4, and every time I saw a type writer I saved. Ok,maybe that's a bad example, since there seemed to be a type writter in every area, but still, I saved at least 3 times as much as my dad.

There's nothing wrong with saving. It saves you time if you die or if there is a blackout or anything that turns off the console.

Only when doing specific things, but often I forget to save, but then I will go through fits of mass saving when I am doing something specific and difficult. (Stealing keys from people in a TES game or something)

Yeah, I tend to save whenever I get close to any person in the game or enter a building because of my tendency to screw up by injuring or killing N.P.C.s at bad times. Can't count how many times I would accidentally have to reload in Oblivion because I shot a man with an arrow instead of the item I was moving around.
