Are you a moral or immoral player online?

I've noticed over the years that morals in online games has been in decline.

By that I mean I seem to come across more and more immoral players in competative play where no mater how chivalrous I act in a match, they will continue to play dirty time and time again.

What I'm trying to say is this: I am a very chivalrous player who will honour the gunners seat to another player. I will let them have the sniper if they beat me to it. I will not spawn kill if it can be avoided and I very rarely give the impression my right trigger is broken until all grenades have been expended.

Do I stand alone?

In versus? If its red its dead. Thats the philosophy. There are no morals in war. Only victory.

In co-op? I played a holy paladin in WoW and ignored anything less then plate. Need I say more?
Truth be told if you play with others you have a bigger chance of succeeding if you work together then if you play alone. Team play.

However, the game must reward team play, if a game gives you more points for 10 kills instead of a capture of the flag then assholes will rise.

I play assassins and in tf2 I am the spy.

What do you think my morals are?

I have to agree that wht you list is nothing new it has not seen a huge increase as far as i have seen. Asshats always seem to be in steady supply.

The usual rules apply.

Mute them.
Ignore them.
Hunt them down!
If asshat to normal people ratio is bad find another game.

I kind of act the same as you do, but I wouldn't call it "moral", at least not in my case. I'm averse to things like spawn-killing and glitching (which both feel like cheating to me), but I'm all for ambushes and shooting enemies in the back, neither of which are exactly "chivalrous".

The key thing for me is that I feel like I've won, and that means I actually have to succeed through some kind of ingenuity or skills on my part rather than taking advantage of a game's flaws.

I only grief friends who I know in real life and only really when they tend to do it back, I usually am also in hitting distance of said friend when I grief so the situation is usually quickly resolved.

Similar to what you've said here.

In fps games (halo series for example) I'm a sniper through and through. There really is no 'honorable' way to go about this. I stand as far away as I can, and the second I get the chance, I punch a hole through your head. At best you'll have seen a bullet trail in the after death.

In Minecraft if I use an online invisible texture pack to see through the ground to ensure that my structure is secure from intruders etc. and I happen to see anothers buried chest. I will not access it. As I would not have known it was there if it weren't for my 'cheating'. (obviously this means I don't grief-spawn camp-etc.)

So in response to the main topic question. I suppose I do act 'honorably' while in online games.

I don't hack, I don't take advantage of glitches, and it has cost me many, many games. As others do so.

I normally try to control myself when playing online. In something as frustratingly 'unbalanced' as Battlefield or CoD I'd eventually reach a breaking point and try to make a witty remark or just leave. Other then that I don't play online that much.

As a admin on both a Battlefield 2 and BC2 server, yes I can say I am a moral player. I'm just one of those guys who, despite there being no consequences for it, does not become a dick on the internet.

I'm also disgusted those immoral beings which will meet my friend

I think amoral is a better option. Instead of doing something bad out of spite or un-fondness of rules, I tend to be a soulless psychopath. Cap the flag, then run around in circles tomahawking people, because it's fun to beat a (semi) modern assault rifle with technology mastered in the 3rd century B.C. Or stealing an enemy care package with hacker on, using the trap to bait more kills, then retreating so some schmuck blows himself up. Muahahahahahaha!!!!!!!! Bananas!!!!! I'm the president of jellybeans!!!!!! See what I mean?

I try to be moral. Say, for instance, back when I played WoW. I would help out Alliance players when they're struggling, unless I'm aware that that person is a dickbag (through previous encounters or through chat warnings). At that point I would crush them under my heel, or die trying.

One of my most epic experiences in my brief time with WoW was a Tauren druid who came to the Nelf starting area and managed to get some horde players taunting and NPC-killing newbied to go away.

He then hung around for a while and helped several newbies when they got overpowered by mobs.
Now that was an online gentleman.

Still, I like things being fun and friendly in my online experiences. If they aren't, I go to another server.
Of course, I don't really game enough to really invest the time and effort that would make it painful to go elsewhere on the internet...
Still, I just don't really have an interest in abusing internet anonymity.

As far as combat goes, my self-appointed rules are applied:

1. When a betrayal is made
Apologize! Verbally or by textual response

2. When you are betrayed
Forgive, but do not forget. Find out if it is intentional.

3. Power Weapons
If you get to them first, it is yours. If someone gets there first, your reaction should only be "Aw, man!" and not "IMBETRWITDISWEPONGTFONUBTROLOLOLOLWTFBBQ".

4. Vehicles and Seats
If you get there first, try to be a driver. Wait for a gunner and for someone to ride shotgun. If no one arrives, exit or wait at your own discretion.

These rules mainly apply to LOLreach. That TU and the Beta hoppers are coming to open arms over here.

I like to try and stay moral. But when someone starts to annoy me, any sense of nice or fairness goes out the window. Friend or foe, you piss me off I'm killing you.

I dont play too much online where there's moral. Most of my online games consist of CoD and Soul Cal.

However when I do play, I usually play like I would in real life on a serious/main run. And usually I'm pretty more, though I've been known to commit a genocide or two when it comes to war/risk

In war/pvp games? I'm an utter immoral bastard whom will, if you get in my way.. God help you. But I will never kill a teammate. After all, they are racking in that kill count for my team as well. Would be an idiot to kill them.

In co-op of any genre? I'm a fucking saint to my partner, until he gets the bigger gun. Then I just.. mutter, sit back, and let him nuke everything. And then memorize the spawn point for the next round, of course.

I play with a sense of honor, however, sometimes, i will indiscriminately fire with an lmg, or shotgun rush, because sometimes, i must "put the team on my back" usually it stays under control... usually.

I'm not exactly a dick to other players but I'm not really friendly either. In TF2 I usually play as either the medic or engineer, two communal classes so that I'm not only helping myself all of the time, but I'm partial to play lone-wolf classes such as spy, sniper and scout. I've only ever spawn-killed once on purpose, but recently I had a huge glitch in TF2 where I kept getting sentry kills on one guy. My Engy score is now 400+, dwarfing my second highest score (medic, 28 points). I never grief on TF2 anymore - I stole some stuff from someone once on a server I no longer go on, and I genuinely felt guilty and gave it all back plus the remainder of my diamonds.

So, yeah, I'm not immoral but I'm not friendly.
