Are you actually good at gaming?

I've aced Deus Ex: Human Revolution on its hardest difficulty, of course it took a fair bit of saving and loading. Now I know how to kill all the bosses easy and get everything done, I feel ready to attempt the Pacifist and Foxiest Of The Hounds achievements and a few other ones I missed my first round. I might actually be able to get all the Steam achievements for that game, but I will follow some youtube tutorials as a guide. In fact you can circumvent a lot of challenges by finding and traveling through vents.

I've got all the achievements for Portal 2 excluding a few multi-player achievements of which I don't really care about. But I'll have hung myself before I can manage to get the Rocket Science and Aperture Science ones for Portal [1]. There's just no real point with Steam Achievements unless it unlocks a hat, or something? I understand the quest for XBOX 360 LIVE achievements cause at least you can pimp your dude.

In multi-player games I can vary in skill from being completely noob, to dominating five opponents at once. Depends on who's playing. I guess I'm a one over-par kind of player. But it doesn't worry me. If playing 2fort in TF2, I don't care about some dick who's harassing me over being suck (usually it's someone on my own team), cause I've decided I want to duel with the snipers. And damn it! I want to duel with the snipers.

I tend to stick games on their highest difficulty setting, except Oblivion and FO3 seriously fuck that shit. Partly cause I like the challenge, and partially because I am masochistic and like getting utterly annihilated every 20th second. I still hold my own fairly well, completed a pacifist run on Big Boss Extreme difficulty of MGS4; Ace Combat 6 on Ace of the Aces, Demon's Souls, Persona 3 and 4 on hardest. Online it...varies. I'm usually pretty good at team-based games and tend to score in the best squad; but in straight up deathmatches I am pretty bad.

not really :p

Seriously, though, easy setting all the way. I'm not ashamed that I suck. I don't really care, as long as i have fun with the game.

Hmm.
-Decent at fighting games. Floating at 145-150 PSR with Lambda in BlazBlue.
-Sub-par at multiplayer shooters, but I'm a decent Medic in TF2.
-Good at RPG's. Mass Effect 2 on Insanity and ME1 on Hardcore. Will run through a whole lot of Shin Megami Tensei some time in the future. 90 hours into Persona 4 without any big issues.
-Good at Extreme Action games. Ninja Gaiden Black Master Ninja. Ninja Gaiden 2 Mentor with Master Ninja pending. Devil May Cry 3 and 4 DMD, both have at least A rank on every level. Currently playing Bayonetta Hard Mode. Normal mode was actually easier with the "enrage enemies" item equipped because I couldn't get used to how they take forever to attack.

I'm not a very good gamer, but I'm a very persistent gamer (or maybe stupidly stubborn is the right way to express that). I usually manage to get through somehow, but it certainly takes me longer than a "pro" gamer.

Not really. I generally avoid competitive games like FPS, RTS and fighters because I cannot get good enough to enjoy them at a competitive level. There are exceptions in all those cases, but still. I prefer single-player experiences and in some cases I do the hardest difficulty level, but it depends on the game. For instance I play ME2 and Deus Ex on the hardest setting because those are okay. Dragon Age and Dead Space, I have more fun on easier/normal settings.

I'm good with most MMOs.. because I can learn from other people (something I'm good at) and take time to learn it before the game is fucking over. A lot of games I am absolutely terrible at, but I don't really care. xD

It's funny, I probably couldn't get through any Call of Duty campaign on Veteran, but if I joined a Black Ops multiplayer game right now I'd probably be in the top 3 players if not the best. I don't try many games on hard difficulty setting because in singleplayer, dying a lot takes you out of the game so it's not very immersive when you're raging because I TOTALLY SHOT THAT GUY WTF!?!?!!1?

I find that I am not pro... I am not awesome, that I am just not that good at video games...
*Looks over at 64k Gamerscore and over 1.5 k/d in most multiplayers in games*
*Slowly hides it*
Nope... not in the slightest...

Actually OT: I think that I am at least moderately decent at games, its just that I am very LUCKY at games. You know those guys in games right? The ones who throw a grenade straight up, only to get melee'd to death, then to get a revenge with said grenade? Yeah, I'm that guy.

I'm 21 and I've been gaming since I was 6. I have the Crest of Hyrule tattooed on my back and I donno where I'd be without games. However, that doesn't mean I'm a particularly good gamer.
I've played through Mass Effect 2 several times on normal difficulty, but on hardcore? No no no no. Y'know the part, half way through, where you make your way into the supposedly dead Reaper and get ambushed by a load of Collectors on platforms? Can't do it, nope, not a chance.

My point is, for all of the love you have for games, are you actually good at Halo, DIRT, CoD, God Of War or Portal?
Sure, we all have our strengths. For example, it's a scientific fact that I am unbeatable at Crash Team Racing, but I am rubbish at almost all first and third person shooters, even though I play them quite a lot.

So, gamers, what games do you suck at, even if you love them and play them often?
I can play hard mode, but it's not "fun mode" for me and with most games hard-mode just breaks the game by turning enemies into bullet sponges.

Online competitive I am able to hold my own, frequently topping the kills for the team (especially if we are losing) and almost always with a high and positive kill to death ratio.

Se I think I am quite good though it has taken me a LONG time to get to this point.

I'm shitolla at uncharted 2 online, but then again I came to it brand new (never played competitive 3rd person shooter before) about 2 years too late.

I'm one of those who's played so many hours of Halo that I'm rather good at it, but can still get absolutely dominated by other people of the same or higher ranks. I'm also a dab hand at the trick races on SSX Tricky. However, one of my favourite games, Oblivion, I am abysmal at. I also suck at RTS games, but love them!

I consider myself perhaps average or a little above. For example I have played Black Ops for hundreds of hours and have a 1.31 kdr. Decent, but nothing spectacular. I have matches where I do really good and matches where I do really bad.

As for single player games I usually don't have much trouble beating most games on their default difficulty setting. Sure there are some tricky parts but I can usually pull through a tough part on a few tries. Though there is many games that if I played on hardest difficulty setting I would be stomped.

So all in all I think of myself more of a connoisseur of games rather than a competitive gamer.

I think that I can be pretty good but I havent practised alot due to the fact that my internet sucks, so I hope I get a better internet so I can play a whole lot more.

I'd say I am above average in most genres of games however I am not really hardcore. I generally won't put in any time to ever practice or get better at games since its not why I play them. Therefore once I hit my skill ceiling with casual play, that is about it.
In Bad Company 2, I generally do fairly well but if I join a hardcore server full of 50s, I will get consistently raped. In RPGs I generally do fairly well, pretty good at building characters and such. Also quite good at Brood War and so so at Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike.
I suck at racing games and sports games though.

I think im awesome at games... especially halo. I can win any fair fight on halo reach. Like when my other 3 teammates left and at the end of the match I had 39 points and they had 40...

It takes a long time for me to get good at a game, but on the second playthrough I usually play on the hardest difficulty.

I am terrible at any RTS when playing against people. I can do single player, I might even manage to survive for a while against a human player but I don't think I'll ever actually manage to beat someone. Which is a shame, I like RTSs.

I am good at the shootings though.
