Being insomniac would imply that I get little or no sleep at all.

So I wouldn't call myself insomniac.

Although, my sleeping hours are fucked.

I do not think I am an insomniac. There will be some restless nights, and some nights that i need to take diphenhydramine(active ingredient in OTC sleep aids) to get some sleep, but thats usually because of the caffeine i drink. Being a college student there are many nights I don't sleep and they leave me feeling worn out.

Insomnia? No, I don't have it. When I'm tired, I sleep. Sometimes I get weird hours, but equalization still occurs. I believe that if I failed to sleep, I would end up like Tyler Durden.

It is 4:30am. I haven't been to bed yet. I didn't sleep much last night either (lot on my mind). I am not even tired or sleepy.

I know that I am sleep deprived at the moment, I can feel it. Porbably won't bother going to bed at this point. Irritating because I know that I will be in no shape to drive so will have to fork out for a bloody taxi.

I'm a slight insomniac. Irony is, I'm currently in the middle of pulling an all-nighter because I have a ton of ironing to do and don't want to miss my lectures (again) in the morning. It's now half four in the morning (UK time) and I'm just about to start ironing...

Usually though, I don't get to bed until about two in the morning at least anyway, so yes, I'm definitely something of an insomniac...

Well, it's 5:08am and i have not yet slept. So maybe.

I'd say i probably aren't though. I'm pretty good at sleeping, but not very good at going to bed. Once i get there i'll be out cold for some time. But for no good reason i often find myself staying up ridiculously late. Sometimes all night. Not because i can't, just because i don't.

My internal clock is screwed up, but I don't have insomnia.
Of course, most of my childhood was spent staying up at night waiting for sleep to come...

It's one o' clock in the morning. I have to be up at seven. What do you think?

Also, it takes me a ludicrous amount of time to fall asleep, someone in the area of an hour.

I'm no insomniac, though I have a lot of trouble winding down. Some of my comments on internet groups can talk a half hour or more just to write if it ends up running for more than a few paragraphs. The upshot is that even though I intended on sleeping at about 2:00am tonight, it is now 8:00am and I still keep thinking of things to do. Even if I down the laptop and turn of the lights, I spend two or three sleepless hours thinking about all the stuff I want to be doing right about now. And for some irritating reason, I come up with my best ideas for story writing whilst lying in the dark, so I have to turn the lights on and write it down somewhere before I forget it.

My current remedy is to pull an all nighter every few days, forcing me to sleep at an early hour through sheer exhaustion, thus re-setting the whole system. Tonight will be an all nighter.

Yep. Messed up internal clock, and lack of ability to sleep on demand.

Been like this for years and years now.

Yup, I've been an insomniac for about 5 years. In some ways it's useful, eg, during night shift on ICU as I'm already awake, but during classes my mind wanders due to lack of sleep.

No not really I can get to sleep when I need to though I'm sometimes tired.

Also like Onyx said Insomniac makes pretty good games <3 Ratchet and Clank.

Yep, I am officially an insomniac. I've even got a prescription for it (which I never take)
Dude, seriously as an 18 year insomniac, I have to say take the dammed meds. Medicated sleep is still sleep and more than most of us get.

On topic, the above answer sums up your question, but here's more detail. I am an insomniac. I have been an insomniac ever since pretty much birth. I don't remember a night in my life where I have gotten good sleep, it has either been drug induced, or sheer exhaustion which isn't relaxing sleep at all.

As for tips to sleep, I recommend This [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melatonin]. Since its natural it gives you a better sleep and from what I've heard, a great first step to fixing a screwed up sleep cycle.

I'm not an insomniac, because I can sleep just fine (sort of), but my sleep cycle makes me tired around one or two in the morning, and then I sleep until twelve (at least I would if I didn't have school and things I want to do in the day).

I'm generally pretty lucky and able to sleep at the drop of a hat, quite deeply and thoroughly.

But there's been times when I have suffered a bit of sleeplessness for a bit...but nothing too serious and ongoing.

I usually sit up and read... Reading for me is a signal to go to sleep, since I've done it since I've always read before bed from when I was a kid... So I just read until my eyes get tired.

My housemate can be an insomniac, or gets very broken snippets of sleep. She was on some light sleeping pills for a bit but they played havoc with her digestive system so she's now gone to a more herbal remedy, containing Valerian but of a different consistency.

Heavy drinking can also help ;)

Probably.
It's 8.34am at the moment and I've been awake since 2pm. I feel a little tired but nothing that can't be solved by A)Playing on the 360 or B)Listening to music.

Hmm....

I take about 40 minutes to get to sleep normally, after a huge day it can cut down to about 15, when I'm not tired or it's dead hot it boosts to about 2 hours, but every single FUCKING time, I wake up between 5:30 and 6:00 AM. Automatically.
