You ever been told or said you were awkward? I don't mean obvious things like thrusting your pelvis at the person you are speaking to directly but in general have you talked to someone and then they said you were awkward.

I got told I was awkward the other day when I was queueing for BBQ food and just being friendly I asked a girl (or cow even) who I had known already, where she got the dress from and she just said I was awkward and I argued with her for a while.

Actually, she misused the word. Calling someone awkward for asking where a dress came from doesn't actually fit. You can be uncooth, insensitive, and even possibly rude, but awkward is the wrong word for the job.

Also no, never have been called this.

Aspergers syndrome basically says "socially awkward", but I don't think myself as awkward, I think almost everyone else is.

Yes I have and the situation you described could fit me perfect. there is no real translation of the word "Awkward" in my language so no I haven't been called awkward yet.
This has happend to me very often:
your with some friends.
A friend tells you a dirty joke, you laugh about it and nobody else bothered with it.
you counter the joke with another dirty joke.
and suddenly everyone is silent and gives you weird looks.

No, not really. I tend to be very vocal around friends. And I can talk to strangers, no problem.

Used to be, not anymore. I decided I'm way more gnarly than anybody else, so why be shy?

I have a lot of trouble maintaining a conversation with someone I don't know very well, unless there's a definite topic at hand. It really irritates me. So in that regard, yes, I am.

Most people who've told me I'm awkward probably don't even know how to spell the word.

Thrusting your pelvis at someone? Like this?
(Duckman at his own wedding)

Well... yeah, sometimes i am awkward. I mean, yeah i am polite and humble and such... But really in "smalltalk" i am mostly lost. People are STRANGE. ALL of them. And our social constructs are STRANGE too.

I'm not very awkward, I can talk to strangers no problem and I can talk to girls I've just met without being tongue-tied. The only awkwardness I have is when adults or older people make jokes that aren't funny and you have to nod and say, "huh, yeah. Good one."

I have problems talking to people that I have just met for long periods of time, but other than that, no not really.

The only trick there is to not give a shit.
Look around and you will notice that the biggest loudmouths just talk nonsensical bullshit noone cares about most of the time, and they can only do that because they don't give a rats ass what others think.

I haven't been told I am socially awkward, but I figure I am.
I can't take a compliment.
"You look good today, [Jonluw]"
"Mmblgmblble... Yes."(Oh fuck, I was supposed to say thanks.)

I'm pretty sure I am awkward, although I can't remember anyone actually saying that to me, but I know it is true. I suck at small talk with most people and usually end saying very little. Most people, usually just say: "You don't talk much do you?" and my response is "Yeah."

Conversations with me usually go a lot smoother when the other person initiates them because I'm pretty shy. I'm getting better at small talk little by little, but I still have a hard time talking to new people.

And as sad as this probably is, I can identify with some of the socially awkward penguin memes. It is okay though, I think it is funny how some of them fit me really well.

Socially awkward, very. I HATE social situations and fail horribly at them.
