are you elitist in any way?

so in your day to day life, in anything do you ever consider yourself or somthing you like "better" than somone or somthing else?

Im sure weve all had moments of elitism

for me it makes me think of the movie Team America: world police

now even though its full of gross out and somwhat crude humour I actually find it pretty funny and I see it as somwhat clever satire on American policy, the action movie genre (and of coarse a rather disturbing parody of the hollywood sex scene)

however I then facepalm when think of all people enjoying it for the "wrong reasons", JUST for the gross out humour and all the satire going completley over their heads...because Im sure such people exist

OT: Longboarders. They're all over my campus, and as a bike guy, I can't stand 'em. Of all the impractical modes of tansportation out there, the longboard is for sure on top of any list. I go to Texas Tech. It's a huge campus with lots of traffic. I can't count how many times some douchebag on a longboard has nearly run me over because he thinks he can zip between people's legs.

Yes, I respect the rights of others to do as they please, but I don't take them seriously unless they live up to the demands set in my mind. Awfully judgemental of me, but this seems to work better than anything else.

Movies are a huge one as you pointed out in your OP, although I try to realize opinions and tastes are different. I caught myself this past weekend at a restaurant across from a group of people agreeing with each other that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was a better movie than Raiders of the Lost Ark. My girlfriend was amused by how much that pained me to listen to.

I have to say I feel like a bit of an elitist when it comes to food. I really don't mind when other people cook, but they do some god awful things to otherwise great dishes.

Brawl. I'll admit it. I'm quiet about it, but I secretly think I'll beat anyone I run against, unless they already say that they are a proffessional. I don't think I'm the best or even close, its just that out of my group of friends, I'm usually on top with my twin brother. I usually have to go easy on my friends or they get really mad.
I don't mean to. It just happens.

Other than that, writing. Which is odd because I know that I know almost nothing. But seeing some of my friend's writing and ideas in high school, (I'm a freshman in college, please don't hold it against me, though its up to you to decide. (Small reference to a movie I don't remember. No wait, 'In Brudge' about being an American.))

But the ideas that they have are often very vague. I get it, certain species don't get along well, great evil or something. Though I try not to shoot down the ideas because I understand there is always room to add to the characters, add to the world and whatnot so that what seems normal at first becomes amazingly deep. So I just look at techniques and stuff like that, though I don't know much. It mostly boils down to pacing, clarity, character and a few other things. I always give the warning, 'All of this is simply advice from one amature, so take every word with a grain of salt.' Granted, I'm working on a novel and feel I've learned a lot, though I know it is probably horribly horribly written. I've worked on it for years now, so even though I know its not perfect, I at least feel I've learned something. Sometimes. (Though I realize when people are simply better. Mostly comparisons happen with their short strories against my novel though, so the comparisons don't always make me feel at ease. Its all in my head though, because only a few friends read my book.)

And that is my elitism. I could write a whole poorly written book on my insecurities though, so its not like I have it for everything.

1: Whenever someone drunk or high comes on campus (And I'm very close to the main entrance, so I often hear most of them coming in), I think "heh... thank god that never happens to me"

2: I'm not sure how to describe this one: I think of myself as a gaming snob, but I look down on a lot of gaming snobs because I think many of them tend to act like complete sheep, praising games they've most likely never even played simply because it makes them sound "classy". And there are people like that.

No, I think we are a all a little elitist when it comes to something we are good at/like a lot. It's just satisfying to know that you're better than most people at something.

I try not to hate people, and that I find that the best way to do that is to be just a little condescending. "Well, yeah, but they don't know any better..."

I tend to be a bit elitist about going into a hard science; since I view it as one of the few careers with any *real* benefit to the world it kind of overshadows all the other ones.

Also, I'm a bit of a writing snob, which is weird because my writing is meh. But I'm used to being so good compared to my classmates... meh.
