so in your day to day life, in anything do you ever consider yourself or somthing you like "better" than somone or somthing else?

Im sure weve all had moments of elitism

for me it makes me think of the movie Team America: world police

now even though its full of gross out and somwhat crude humour I actually find it pretty funny and I see it as somwhat clever satire on American policy, the action movie genre (and of coarse a rather disturbing parody of the hollywood sex scene)

however I then facepalm when think of all people enjoying it for the "wrong reasons", JUST for the gross out humour and all the satire going completley over their heads...because Im sure such people exist

I KNOW its silly of me tot hink that way, but yeah thats my elitist moment

I think you're confusing elitism : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elitism

With narcisism: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcisism

Please do the world a favor and spread the word about this news. ELITISM IS NOT THINKING YOU'RE BETTER THAN OTHERS!
Huh.... works for me.

Though you should know that wikipedia is not the most rel-- 'slaps self'

Yes... it is reliable enough. I'm always amazed how well it seems to be taken care of.

Such a person would have to be insanely, unfixably retarded. That movie has the most blatant, non-subtle satire possible.

Me, elitist? Never! I am the most unelitist person you'll ever meet! No one comes close to being unelitist as me! If you look up the antonym for elitist, you'll find my name at the top of the list!

Yeah, I am, I often see myself standing way above most people I surround myself with on a daily basis in terms of social status. The stupid, binge drinking, gossipping, intellectually dead simpletons that inhabit these parts. If it were up to me, certain folks I know wouldn't even be allowed the right to vote. If that ain't social elitism I don't know what is.

And yes, sometimes I'm quite ashamed of it.

Yes, I respect the rights of others to do as they please, but I don't take them seriously unless they live up to the demands set in my mind. Awfully judgemental of me, but this seems to work better than anything else.
Same here, I just about smile n' nod to every opinion thrown around.

I believe some people can have objective opinions on almost anything though. Some people really do specialize in certain fields.

whenever i end up in a discussion ill almost always hold my stance on the the subject until they manage to convince me otherwise by giving me a good argument, but that rarly happens because they often give up after a while. i have only one friend who is just like me and we almost end up discuss something weird like if we ever had a discussion about rocks.

I dont think I have ever spent any time wondering or thinking about how I am better than others... but have spent time wondering why people are worse than I am. /endsarcasm

One thing I'm really bad about is being elitist toward people who I feel don't understand fighting games as they're played at the professional level. I know that button-mashing is a time honored tradition, and that not everyone takes these games as seriously as the pros do, but when I see someone watching footage from EVO or Super Battle Opera and saying dumb crap like "Oh, they're just spamming Hadoukens, I could beat all of them" or "Oh, they're just mashing buttons, I could do that", I can't help but get a little riled up.

Well, I must admit, I am a bit elitist. Well, actually, does it count if your elitism involves looking at the other people being simply different, and not necessarily inferior as human beings?
Wait, that would be the opposite of Elitism, now wouldn't it? Dammit, I fail at elitism! D:

Of course. I believe myself to be better and more important than everyone else, in every aspect.

Who said I had an ego.

The preceding was a joke, in case you didn't get that. And if you didn't, maybe I'm not far off in saying what I did. ;p
Or your terrible at jokes?

I have to call bullshit on this.

When you say someone is different its across several aspects of their life.

To use a videogame analogy because I'm a nerd:
Someone rolls up a character with 18 strength, 15 dext, 12 int , 12 wisdom.
Another guy rolls a character with 12 strength, 12 dext, 18 int, 15 wisdom.
These guys are different. However the first guy is clearly better at carrying shit, and the second guy is clearly better at thinking. So they can both be elitist while both be accepting.

I sincerely doubt you don't view yourself intellectually superior to the average truck driver. Even if you have a charisma roll high enough not to point it out.
Elitism isn't the same as being better than something. Elitism would be the guy with 18 STR saying that because his strength is higher, he should inherently hold a higher status and greater privilege.
