Well, there's your answer. They made it in EUrope, and want to bring it to America, but have to "remake" it so its more accepted by the american movie goer public. this acutally happens... well, not often, but sometimes.
*coughQUARANTINEcough*
It's funny because they're almost all terrible.

And also because they know they'll just be able to make money off it. What all you sheep have to do is stop this by NOT WATCHING FUCKING TERRIBLE MOVIES JUST BECAUSE YOU LIKED THE ORIGINAL OR THERE'S A GOOD ACTOR IN IT. Do this single simple act, and terrible movies will stop being made. Really.

BUt you never really know how terrible a movie is until you see it. Everyone said Clash of the Titans (2010 version) was bad, but i thought it was oka. if you could combine the two of them, then you would hav ea great movie. The action and effects of the new, with the story and depth in characters of the old. It would be EPIC!

Y'know what? Shut up.

How many people do you think would have gone out of their way to see "Let the Right One In"? How wide a release did "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" get in the US?

People WILL see the english-language versions of these movies. And thanks to folks like you, they will hear nothing but how inferior they are to their European counterparts. And y'know what? Maybe they'll watch those too, having liked the remakes, or even (gasp!) read the fucking books.

Is it stupid that American audiences are so averse to foreign-language films that we demand english versions? Yes. But it's a stepping stone.

ok....history lesson real quick, in 2008 there was a REALLY creepy vampire flick that came out in europe, known as "let the right one in" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1139797/

it was good and creepy, enough to make it a horror classic. flash forward to 7 minutes ago when i see a trailer for "let me in" the freakin remake of the movie.

can someone explain to me the retard logic in remaking an already great movie? a movie thats only 2 years old? i know hackwood is so far out of ideas that they're making a facebook movie, but jeez....
It's very easy to explain. Subtitles in movies suck. It's fine with animation because you know the mouths dont match up even in your natie language. But with live action it really messes with your head. Plus you can't rewind if you miss the end of a sentence of the subtitle.

I dont see why people get so upset with english language remakes, it's rather stupid to ignore the revenue it would bring in, ESPECIALLY with a zombie flick. Americans are zombie mad remember.

Funny how everyone is shitting all over a movie that no one has seen yet.

I swear, they could make a scene for scene, shot for shot remake without subtitles, and people would still ***** that "some of the nuance gets lost in translation blah blah blah."

Everyone needs to just calm down, relax, and let the people who generally DON'T watch foreign films enjoy a unique story.

I saw the trailer for it when I saw Machete today. That's idiotic. Yeah, nothing is original anymore, but come on! That's just a flat out rip-off.

Thanks for that, you've convinced me to stick to 80s and 90s movies, maybe some early 2000s.

Hold onto your hats! It might not be true.

*Checks again

This gem has remained untouched, a possible remake has been destroyed.

Many great foreign films get "the Hollywood treatment" aka English-laguage remakes. Lots of people in America and Canada (not including myself) refuse to watch a movie unless it's in English. I accept it and am genuinely looking forward to Matt Reeves' take on Låt den rätte komma in; IMO he did wonders with Cloverfield and I want to see how he handles this one. I'm not expecting it to be as good as the brilliant original film, but I am expecting it to be good.

Yeah, you remember a little Spanish film called [REC] that came out a few years ago? And then one year later a piece of shit shot for shot remake called Quarantine came out?

This is the same thing. Hollywood trying to capture the success of a great foreign movie by fucking it with the big cock of Americanization.

It's just a way to get money.

Step one: Remake movie

Step two: ?????

Step three: Profit!
Oh. That so pissed me off, i always have arguments about it with my friend. [REC] is way better.

What about that Cowboy bebop movie they're doing with keanu reeves...

I also heard they were going to do an American version of the I.T. crowd. It's already in English, Why?! Why would you do that...

For those who hate reading subtitles, Watch the english dub, it actually worked on "Let the Right one In" like the dub worked on "The Host"

I personally hated the concept of them making "Let Me In" (stupid title by the way) but I'm seeing it. I heard that it's a closer adaption to the books, and some people actually saw the original after hearing of the American version.

So I'll see the movie for myself and decide whether it's as good as it's companion. Give it a CHANCE people and actually see it for yourself.

Also I'll be more pissed if they ever remake "The Host" "Thirst" or "The Orphanage"
