Are you getting FFXIV: ARR? If so what server will you play on?

I had heard about it, but I'm more of a B2P kind of person (thank you, Guild Wars). I admit, I have played WoW off and on via Game Cards. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a P2P, just with budgets tightening up, it is hard for me to do such a thing.
Been watching gameplay videos for hours and am extremely tempted to get this game. Have mostly heard really good things about it(though the combat seems really slow with a global CD of 2,5 sec ._.) and I need a new MMO to take up some of my time. One big issue is that I generally fucking hate Asian MMOs. The art style and grind doesn't appeal much to me.
Don't have any friends who's gonna play it either, so I'll be all alone unless we decide on something on the Escapist.
As for servers I guess I'll try to join Gilgamesh due to it being the only server name I know. Seems to be the most popular one.
Got into beta instantly on my PS3, but my PS3 isn't very reliable. Couldn't even find my router, so I was unable to try it. Still got the code if anyone wants it, though I assume the beta is over now. Early access starts tomorrow afaik.

I just bought it myself from their webshop and got a confirmation mail that told me they'd send a new mail when the early access starts and how to go from there.
Also as an update; I managed to convince a friend to start the game with me. Since Gilgamesh seems so popular we'll try to get into that server. Would be nice if someone made a FFXIV group or something, so we can discuss the game and play togeather. Got no clue on how that works myself.
I've been playing since Beta Phase 3, but I planned on getting it pretty much just on the word of my friends who I played FFXI with a long time ago, and say ARR is much better than the original FFXIV. I never got into the original XIV for various reasons, and hearing about its suckiness didn't help. But now after hearing all the improvements in ARR and experiencing them for myself, I'm excited to dive into Eorzea and see the rest of what it has to offer.
In Phase 3 I was on Excalibur where my friends also were, but they sort of stopped playing during Phase 3 because they knew their character data and progress wasn't going to be preserved going into phase 4, so I never got to play with them. In phase 4, the open and most recent beta, I couldn't make the first couple of days, so by the time I made my characters Excalibur was full. So I made a couple of characters on Odin (a mi'qote and lalafell) and got them to levels 10 and 11, respectively. My Mi'qote was supposed to be my main character, but I realize I probably won't be able to switch worlds so it was just basically my trial run with the summoner job. My Lalafell is the one I'll really miss, Tenori Taiga, the level 11 Gladiator. I don't think I'll delete her, and if such an option ever comes available I'll definitely switch her to Excalibur as soon as I can.
I preordered the game, so I'll have early access which I think will be starting on Friday. By then lots of people should end up leaving because the open beta will be closed, so that should be my chance to get in Excalibur. Hopefully...

Fooling around with the character creator you could download from their site at the moment and I can't say I'm very impressed. Managed to make a passable-looking highlander after some struggle. Hopefully there's plenty of helmets to cover up the faces.

Ack, you're right. I told my friend before it started on the 24th and he said it was the 20th along with the text from the store: "Those who pre-order FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn will start receiving early access keys from 20 August, 2013, onwards." @IndomitableSam and I ordered our copies long ago.
We leveled this weekend on Malboro. She's Tiu Fenris and got ACN and THM up there, I play Miyenne Ambrai and got MAR and PUG up and a bit of GLD. We also took on between us all the crafting and gathering.
We had a lot of fun.
Cannot wait for Saturday now.

Like @Miyenne said, we're on Malboro as Miyenne Ambrai and Tiu Fenris. Feel free to join that server at launch (Or during early access) and look us up. We'll be very casual players, and we like to harvest/craft a lot, but will be open to parties, too. Probably dungeons only on weekends, though. Yay work.
My main will be Arcanist heading to Scholar, but I don't think Miy's decided quite yet. Melee class of some sort, possibly Archer. Or she may stick with Marauder.

Complaining about customer service aside, I do hope to play it after I'm sick of playing Defiance. I hope I can redeem it okay, I'm used to quick service like Steam / origin / gog not the way square soft does things. Guess I just got to breathe easy. I would love to join a casual guild! I only play for the content, story and pwetty colors.
Hm, checked a server list to find out how many there are. Doubt it'll be long before they start server merging considering that there's 50 of them!
Anyways, found out that Gilgamesh is a US server, so I won't be playing on it. I had gotten so used to LOTROs merge with EU/US servers that I completely forgot about that system. Will most probably be on Odin instead.
