There's a HUGE theory going around now that the female characters in Mass Effect: Andromeda were made to look worse on purpose to conform to a feminine ideal of making women look more realistic in media. The males characters did not receive the same treatment. And we thought Tracer's buttgate was bad.

This just in; a massive high pressure system is coming in from the west. It looks like a category 5 shit-storm brewing. Batten down those hatches, folks. Make sure you have ample supplies of food, water, and medicine, and make way to your mandatory evacuation zones.

Yes, but strictly for the multiplayer. It's probably not a huge upgrade when compared to ME3 MP, but I still expect to get a solid 500 hours of fun out of it. Hopefully the connectivity issues are not too bad.

No idea yet. Reviews are all over the place and those are only based off the 10 hour demo. Full Reviews may end up telling a different story.

Besides, I wouldn't be playing it at launch regardless. I just got a PS4, Uncharted 4 and Bloodborne, both of which are much higher on my list even if does turn out to be amazing. Not to mention that I'm really not up for a massive open world game right now. Those games take way too much time to complete, so I'm not even thinking about it until I clear some of my game backlog.

Hoping it turns out to be good but honestly won't lose any sleep if it isn't.

Tempted to buy just because doing so will apparently piss off some genuinely awful people. But no, I never even bothered to finish ME3 and have no interest in the game universe anymore. So long Bioware, at least we will always have Baldur's Gate II.

Faces look like...Bioware faces. How has this gone on for years without you guys noticing?
They've never been stars at animation but it's never been this bad. Somehow BioWare regressed in this department. They used to be simply a little stilted. Look at the first Dragon Age for instance. A little wooden, sure, but nowhere near the farce that's Andromeda. Even the original Mass Effect looked less insane, and that game is 10 years old.

You know there's a female option too right?

Yeah she's... She's great.

The derp faces they make would diffuse the tension the narrative tries to build. Maybe if they fix it, and the reviews are good enough, I will. Once it's on sale. Maybe.

I am going to wait a bit, after jumping first for every ME game then being the First to jump for DA :Inquisition,I am a little burnt out. I don't want to touch anything from EA or BIO until enough time passes so they get some of the bugs, glitches they missed out because of Profit.

i personally don't like being a tester and not being paid.

I tried the 10 hour demo, and...

Hrm. Mechanically it's an improved version of ME3, with added verticality thanks to the jump jets. Taking cover is thankfully an automatic response to pressing up against cover objects without binding a key press to it (and then sharing that key press with the sprint button.

Melee took a step back unfortunately. It feels... weightless and weak. You don't "Wind up" anymore, you just spam the melee button and that's all you get. You can do a neat AoE slam when you jump and melee but it's nigh impossible to aim and it lacks the unique class based flair from the previous ME title.

Gunplay also took a slight step back. All the guns I played with felt super weak. It often takes up to three...ugh, clips (yeah, we're still doing clips for whatever reason) to kill a single enemy in bronze multiplayer or Hardcore+ singleplayer. Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to command your squad mates to use specific powers any more, or if there is it was at not point made obvious. All I could do was mark a target for one or both allies and then they'd just suicidally bum rush the target regardless of enemy fire or how close to death they were.

The mako is back, and it's not complete shite anymore, but it lost its weapons which makes me sad. Of the two non-starting squadmates you run in to during the demo, both of them are introduced in an annoying and mediocre way, in that order. Peebee's intro makes zero sense and hits the player over the head with the "THIS IS A LOVE INTEREST" hammer by having her bumrush you from out of nowhere and then straddle your groin while trying to explain some bullshit nobody cares about. My first problem with that is why didn't my squad mates do their jobs and shoot the person making an aggressive beeline for The Pathfinder? One of them is an ex cop and the other is ex special forces, it doesn't make any sense that they'd just stand around with their thumbs up their ass.

The Krogan guys introduction is just... It's like they wanted him to seem like a tough badass but it's just lame and somewhat nonsensical. Oh wow, you killed one of those inviso-dogs, the ones we've been soloing for 4+ hours right about now.

The overall writing is ok, didnt really have enough to make a full judgement. The animations are inconsistent. The internet would have you believe that it's all atrocious all the time, but only in those cherry picked scenes of infamy is it ever THAT bad.

Multiplayer is mostly functional with a few glaring bugs and the same craptastic Peer to peer system from before. The biggest bugs I ran in to was the game randomly locking up and the games sound blowing out until you reset the program (also seemingly randomly). If you liked ME3 multiplayer this is mostly the same thing but even more frantic thanks to the ability to dash and superjump.

And of course he's voiced by Nolan North in his Nathen Drake voice and of course he talks like a guy filled with sarcastic quips.

And also, just fuck Nolan North...go away from the industry for a couple years, god damn. Just stop being the main character in everything.
I like how you guys are complaining about Nolan North voicing a character he didn't voice in a game he's not even in. Scott Ryder is voiced by Tom Taylorson.
I'm not one for research, so I based that little outburst on the guy you quoted. Good to know hes not in it then. He gets too much work.

Not anytime soon. I don't follow video game news anymore since I have so little time, so I kind of forgot about Andromeda. I just don't see the point, they will have a GOTY Edition sale at some point, maybe then I'll get it.

I get that these scenes are cherry picked, but the weird face animations are really distracting, and if you think the first ME was the same, that's fine, I agree ME didn't have great animation either, but that was 10 years ago and I still think the new one manages to be worse. And honestly, 10 years later I don't think it's unreasonable to want something a little better. Especially considering this is the big space opera franchise.

I'll probably replay the original game, though.

Doesn't change the fact you made an uneducated complaint, your Criticise Andromeda card has been revoked

Well you can't deny self evident criticisms like the animation and design of the female characters.

If it is anything like Dragon Age: Inquisition, I won't be bothering. I couldn't finish that game due to its weird single player/MMORPG mechanics and uninteresting story line and if Andromeda is anything like that, a good time will not be had here.

Besides, over ?40.00? I think not.
