After 13 years of development (even if it was restarted a few times), the game simply cannot turn out well. It will be a failure, and I'll carve my ass off, grill it and eat it if the decade of waiting will have been worth it.

Absolutely. I mean, Gearbox are a great studio and all, but I'm worried that it's going to be old school in all the bad ways. The small amount actually released of the game made it seem that way.

Still, if it is a loving homage to the FPS games of yesteryear, (you know, when all games had that obnoxious sepia filter over the top) and carries itself with style, then it could be a blast, like Serious Sam was.

Nope, I know I won't be. I never had much of an interest in Duke Nukem except for watching my dad play it growing up. Now that I play them for myself, I still have no interest.

However, I have a friend that I can almost guarantee will be getting it.

Nah, I don't think so. My affinity towards "The Duke" has never been profound. From what I've seen, it hasn't got anything other shooters haven't already implemented (except for the peeing, blowjobs and T-rated language). Of course that goes for most FPS's today, but I'd rather spend my money on some other game/genre then.

No one ever really cared about Duke Nukem Forever. It just turned into a joke, really.. nothing more. Duke Nukem was great, but it wasn't that great. An acceptably fun game for the 90's, with all it's limited-technical glory.

I wouldn't be able to get into something like Duke Nukem anymore. We've evolved as a gaming species. When Duke Nukem was around, we had Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger doing an endless supply of brainless, cheesy (albeit awesome) movies. Those days are quite over, to be frank. Gaming changed along with the flow of movies.

Duke Nukem doesn't have a place anymore. I'd be surprised if it does well.

I'll keep my eye on it regardless.

Probably not. There is another game I got that took forever to make. Ten years if I remember correctly.

And Too Human turned out to be simply awful. So no, probably not getting Duke Nukem Forever.

I suspect games that take this long to make do so for a reason. There is something wrong with it. It is a bad egg.
