i ask this question because a while back i saw a thread that was like "your bullying experiences" or something, and almost every reply was along the lines of "he bullied me. i annihilated him in a fight and he never bothered anyone again" and i fid that hard to belive, coming from a people who frequently reply to threads on a gaming website. so the question is: do you lie sometimes when replying to threads. i know i have

Why would I lie?

It's not like I've got something to prove.

Impressing strangers isn't exactly high on my list of things to do.

I'm perfectly honest.

I have no intrinsic need to prove myself to strangers on the internet. And my mommy told me never to lie.

I occasionally exaggerate, but rarely outright lie.

It's not like when I type I'm expecting someone to read it and go "wow, that guy is so cool"

...I mean...it'd be nice if they did. But if that's going to happen I want it to be from something I've actually said and done.

Regardless of whether those people who stood up to and beat up their bullies is true, their advice isn't particularly helpful, apparently the thought that someone who is being bullied might be physically weak seems to elude some people. If you count being facetious as lying, then technically I do it all the time. Other than that, I don't really lie too often, I mean given we're all pretty anonymous here there isn't much reason to.

Nope. If anything I'm more honest. It helps that I haven't connected my profile to my actual self.

I know what you mean though, I see it all the time. Apparently 50% of The Escapist's forum members have been diagnosed with Asperger's, too.

You can't prove it anymore than you can disprove it, so you just have to go with the flow and take things with a grain of salt.

But, of course! Although, if I wasn't, I wouldn't pick now as the time to tell the world.

No need to lie, i'm not here to impress anyone.

You don't know me, I don't know you, what purpose would lying have?

I have a habit of not taking some threads seriously and posting joke comments (which some overly serious people here tend to take as an actual serious reply) but that's about it.

Your avatar made me laugh. It's pretty cool.

OT: I wouldn't say that I lie. Depending on who you ask, some people might claim otherwise though.

Pretty much this. I have better things to do than make myself look better online. Besides the fact, I can't lie my way out of a paper bag. Online or offline.

Yeah, I'm honest. I'm in high school (in Canada), in the reserves (you only have to be 16 but no combat until 18), trying to get into Royal Military College in Kingston to become a pilot. I was bullied a lot and then I learned Karate, Kick-boxing and Muay Thai. That prick Stefan never bothered me again. Got suspended for a week though.

What reason do I have to lie? I have no reason to lie to strangers on the internet.

I only do so when it is both fairly obvious I am lying and when I think it would be funny. So... Only when I feel like being a sarcastic ass.

I never lie.except when I do.

But seriously. Why lie on the internet? What will you gain from it?

Will we hate you if you say something we don't like? Probably. but we'll forget your username 20 minutes later.

Well I am more likely to be truthful than tell a lie because it is easier than making something up but then again why the hell should I tell the truth all the time its not like I have any reason to lie or tell the truth (from my own perspective) I generally just follow my own whims.

I am 2 people.

One tells only truths, the other only lies.

Seriously though, I don't lie. I'm not a regular poster so I'm sure I go largely unnoticed anyways.
