I'm wondering how many of you Escapists enjoy cosplay. If so, what characters do you dress up as, and at what conventions?

Only started going to expos/cons this year and I've only been to 2 thus far. (can't afford to go to everyone, due to having to pay rent and bills and all that).
I'm hoping to go to a con next because I've only been to expos.
I went to Telford MCM last Feb as a shite looking Team Rocket member. I had bought the tickets like, 2 weeks before when we finally decided we were going. I don't even think of it a cospaly just a 'shit, I want to dress up and have like, 4 days to make an outfit!'

Went to Manchester MCM last weekend and made an effort this time as Freya from Chobits.

A full body one, but with my disgusting face, yay!

Trying to decide on my next one~ I want to re-use that outfit but don't just want to use the same one again and again. Stumped at the minute though.

I would like to be, but I'm far too lazy.
Yeah this.
I can't sew, I don't want to buy things, and I wouldn't be a fan of having conversations like "Nice costume!" "Thanks, my mummy made it for me."

I do. Eagerly. I make props as a hobby.
I have a full Kakashi costume with all the little details, even gaffs of his books and scrolls in the vest pockets.
But my pride and joy is Doctor Franken Stein from Soul Eater. My partner dresses up as Spirit to match and I have a Death the Kid costume that can fit either of us. All handmade.
Sadly I don't know how to add a picture directly to my post like the peeps above. :[ If anyone wants to tell me how it's done I'll put up some pics.
There's a little pic of me as Stein on my Etsy profile though- http://www.etsy.com/people/PatchworkLaboratory

I don't cosplay much at all. I want to but I'm just never into putting the costume stuff together and I'm too cheap to buy it. My friend once made me wolf ears and a tail which I wore to one convention, but even that felt really awkward.
If anyone knows where to get a good Scott Pilgrim shirt, I'd really like a link to it.

No but I love watching my friends cosplay and making the costumes.
I've been making my own costumes for Halloween since I was a child--I never ever bought one from a store.

So far I haven't made a real cosplay outfit. I haven't had anyone commission me thus far but I might go as Monta from Eyeshield 21 next anime expo. I'm short enough and have the bushy eyebrows.

I don't cosplay at conventions. But alot of my wardrobe is based off fictional characters, I dress up some days like Leon Kennedy, Android 17, Alucard, Dio Brando, etc.

Not into dressing up (I lack the time, money, patience, and ambition) but I really do love to see other people do it, especially if they manage to nail a costume. Cosplay is one of the few things I still enjoy about Blizzcon.

Yeppers! I've done both male and female costumes:

Here's my Chrono (from Chrono Trigger) cosplay (the hair didn't turn out as spiky as I wanted it, and I also look kinda freaky here but it's the only photo of myself that I could find on FB):
http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10100272279097353&set=t.689055829&type=1&theater

Here's my EMily costume who is an original character of mine:
Funny thing was, was that a lot more people took pictures of me in a dress than as Chrono. And most of them were girls, which sends a peculiar message to me about the collective personalities of con-goers.

I also did a Kyon cosplay from TMoHS which turned out okay but it wasn't as successful as the Chrono one. I did get called a man-slave from the Haruhi cosplayer that was there. XD Fun times.

Another one I did was Satoko from Higurashi which had the same turnout of photos as EMily. I liked it a lot :3

Really as long as there's not so much skin revealed or my hips being accentuated I'm cool with cosplaying as a female character.

Just made my first real cosplay last year. Haven't had the time nor money for a new one, but I'm proud of the work for this.

I'd love to start, but I don't really go to cons or expos (I live too far away and have no way to get there) and I can make costumes for the life of me.
