Are you making a Console Switch?

So here's the debate I've been going over for a while, Have you decided to change Consoles recently and why?

What inspired me to write this topic is the Extra Credits episode Here. [] I was a Sony PlayStation Fan girl to the core, From PS1 to PS2, I stayed true. I refused to buy an Xbox, Wii, GameCube, or any other console system, ((handheld devices not included in the argument)). But when the PS3 came out, I faltered. I did not have enough money to buy such an expensive piece of hardware. Too expensive, too costly, and since I was still in school I had a severe lack of money.

So for a time all I did was just leech the Ps2 titles until they became near nonexistent. My friends around me bought Xbox's and next thing I knew I was sucked into the Microsoft world. The multiple games and the industry, and the over all crowd that just seemed to overwhelm the Sony fan base. So I broke down, Bought an Xbox before, swearing I'd get a PS3 when I could afford one. That was before the PSN hacking, before Sony really had such trouble in my eyes relaying to it's customers the problems it had with the hacking, and just Sony's latent over all arrogance and how the company has treated it fan base and customers. This is Not the Sony I knew and loved. and with that alienation I don't know if I can return. So I make the switch, from PlayStation to Xbox. What's you're reason? What's your console old or new?

Personally i just dont like most things about Microsoft and the 360, so i'll be sticking with my trusty ps3, at least until the next generation where i'll decide if anything has changed.

I had the same problem, I loved Sony (had a ps2 and loved it, I even still play it occasionally) and then Sony decided to price their console at $800. So I got suckered into buying a Wii. When that didn't pan out I bought a 360, and have been happy with my purchase.

Still wish I had a ps3 sometimes though. Some of those exclusives are pretty sick.

Respectable decision. You never do know what the next gen will bring. Who knows, perhaps Sony will win my heart back later on?

Agreed though I never had a Wii, I've played my friends games and some are fun, but rather lacking at times. I've also been happy with my purchase as well, Xbox controls odd to get used to from Sony's, other than that a solid console, with a decent amount of solid games as well.

Well, considering I have every single console of this and last generation (except for the Dreamcast. Before my time), I would say no. My original love was X-Box and Nintendo, but I eventually got a PS2 because of awesome exclusives. I never have been a one console type of guy. I don't liked being tied down. ;)

I love my big cube of a PS3 and I'm not going to defect to the 360 like so many people are doing recently. I'm going to stick by my PS3 because to me its the best console out there and the exclusive titles are ten times better then the 360's. So no matter how many bad things happen to Sony I'll stay by my PS3 because I'm smart and use pre-paid cards like everyone should.

I got a PS3 and a Wii, and a few games on my laptop. I'm not getting another console until the Wii2 comes out. Honestly, there aren't enough exclusives IMO to justify getting both a PS3 AND a 360. I"ve always wondered why but I doubt the answers would justify it myself.

But honestly, I wish I had the disposable income the people who are buying a 360 just because of the PSN hack have...

Im still iffy to make a console switch at the current moment. Though its not with the PS3, but going from 360 to PC. I bought a few PC games, and now, I barely turn my 360 on. Going to buy the new edition of Oblivion for PC when its released, and if I like a game like that on PC more than console, ill probable switch over.

I switched consoles back with the Nintendo 64, nothing on the Game Cube peaked my interest so I went with the Xbox. My Xbox was good, but not many niche Japanese titles came out, so I got a PS2. The PS2 was the best thing that happened to me, I saved up my cash and bought a PS3 when they announced new machines would have a lack of backwards compatibility and have been happy ever since.

The latest Sony hacking snafu really hasn't changed my view of Sony, sure I was a little peeved at their delay in explaining the situation, but thats long forgotten. Offering two free games? they may be old, but for the small level of annoyance I've gone through its plenty, its more then enough, I will actually be happier with Sony when this is over then before they were hacked.

Enjoy the Xbox 360, I own one myself and I love the system, just know that by alienating yourself from Sony purely for this reason will only lead to you missing out on some great games.

4 years ago, i purchased a Nintendo Wii, because i am a sheep to my friend. Basically, anything he's done, I've copied and gone over board. Prime example is Magic the Gathering...

ANYWAY, I liked it for Wii Sports and the virtual console, however, the game library i was purchasing mostly revolved around Gamecube games (Super Smash Bros., Resident Evil 4, Kirby's Air Ride, Hitman 2 basically) and i found the games lackluster and not meant for single player.

I guess you could call me a loser, but i don't invite people over to my place often. I could, bit I'm paranoid about something... I'm not sure what.

ANYWAY, I highly became annoyed with my hardware, and a new game was coming out that was hot on the market: Rock Band 2. What i heard is that it would not be sold on the Wii, or at least it wouldn't be as good. I had Guitar Hero 3, and if any of you have played that, you'll know that the Wii version is mostly inferior to that of the other versions, at least in graphics (not that it matters) and it is still not a very good musical game. I wanted to buy it, but didn't want it for the Wii.

So i sold all of my Nintendo stuff and got the Xbox 360. The main reason for that is because I had an original Xbox and I've never bought any Sony products, making the backwards computability useless.

Am i happy? Damn right i am. I finally got myself some xbox points and bought GTA San Andreas, and actually... find it annoying and uncolourful.

REGARDLESS, I think the Nintendo Wii is inferior to the Xbox 360. Yell at me all you want, but the Xbox 360 has a larger library for single player games, and doesn't require to use more movements than your thumbs. Again, i know that's lazy... but I'm a loser. I don't give a crap about my image.

So yeah. That's my story.

Nope. I've got all three, a PC decent enough to game on, and the latest portables as well.

I'd likely only have a PS3 and Wii, but unfortunately for my wallet, Lost Odyssey is only on the 360.

I actually bought a PS3 recently. I thought they handled the situation just as well(frankly, better) than I would expect it out of any other company to handle it. The outcome of this is I would fully expect Sony's servers to be a god damn doom fortress for withholding information.

Not to mention the exclusives I wanted are mostly singleplayer, and there are PSN cards I can buy for other stuff.

Before that, I owned a 360 and a Wii. Both got fairly regular use for a decent period of time, but then more games for the 360 came out that I liked and then the Wii's existence hinged solely on SSBB, and I found that to be less entertaining than melee and eventually I gave the console to a younger member of the family and that was that.

So I don't think I'm really making a console switch, just broadened the games I can play.

My only console, my Xbox 360 came down with a rather nasty case of 'Red rings of death' from which it was unable to recover from. All the consoles are tailored to a specific market, Wii targets the casual market, PS3 targets the 'Graphics' market while the xbox 360 is more for hardcore gamers.
