I was about 2 years ago, I wanted to drive tanks and thats what I did when I joined the army, however I got into a crappy unit and they stressed me out to the point where I couldn't hold down food. I know this was a crappy unit because I talked with other units ,this is at the company/platoon level mind you, and they said that kind of crap would never happen without the superior being reprimanded. Long story short I didn't stay in long.

I haven't grown up yet... Does 17 count as grown up? I wanna be a sound engineer. Or Iron Man.. Lol
I wouldnt define grownup as how old you are, but rather how mature. Can i ask what a sound engineer is? I've never heard of it.
Sound engineers or Audio Engineers work with sound (obviously). With bands, movies, theatre, that sort of stuff. It's pretty intensive work. I'm trying to get in to a school in Sydney but it's a huge commitment to up and move, so I'm trying to find a suitable course at the uni here in Newcastle. Does that help?

Things I want to do:

1)I passed every history class and AP government without studying, I did ok in German, I'm alright at English/writing, but when it comes to math and science I'm a fucking failure which leaves me with no job options. What the fuck am I gonna do? I HAVE NO DIRECTION OR MONEY MAKING ABILITIES. ARRRRRGH! Guess I could just pick up a skilled trade...

2) Get into game design. Sure I could sit back and be one of those people who says, "hey! i'll be an engineer!" but then i'd remember that I fucking suck at math. Its always something I really felt I'd be good at, and thats pretty rare for me.

3) Start a civil war and kick the south out. No more red states ruining everything we do by electing dipshits. Thanks for the last 8 years, now take some time off from voting until you're not stupid anymore.

4) Be Indiana Jones.

5) Become a ninja. There HAS to be ninjas somewhere!

6) Become a Mexican pro wrestler just for the mask.
You could be Indiana Jones and become a teacher and a kickass superheo?

Still at university studying Media And Communication... Which in hindsight, is probably the most useless thing on gods Earth to have a degree in. Still, I love making videos and I've gotten great training in it so I guess I can't really complain. I still aspire to being a games journalist though.

Nope, as a student, all my hopes and dreams have been crushed...
Believe me, it keeps getting worse.

Why hello there.

By this stage I wanted to be a pilot, but then I relised it's too maths heavy and too much stress. That was about 8 years ago. Right now I still want to finish a decent script. I get halfway through and stop.

I had different things that I maybe sorta wanted to be at various times in my life (restaurant chef, work in gourmet food, job in software), but each time, the closer I got to them, the more miserable I became, so I quit wanting to be things and started just looking one step ahead to whatever looked most likely to make me happy at any given time. I think long term planning is overrated. I would never have guessed I'd be doing what I do now.

I'm partway to what I want to be...
My ultimate goal is to design video games, but I would settle for being a writer, programmer, or artist. Basically I want to create entertainment (books, movies, video games, etc) and get paid lots of money for it.

I'm partway there, like I said. I've written a few short stories and sent them off to magazines, and have the rejection letters to prove it. Drawn and written some stuff on the Internet, things like that. Gonna get there eventually.

I sold my soul to the Oil Industry... so no, I'm not.
You can't sell your soul, only rent it. If you're not happy, find something else. Life's too short to dread going to work.

An engineer, which I have acheived.

But, there was one thing that I had always wanted to be since I was 12.

A pair of clogs.

I wanted to be an Olympic ice skater, a la Kristy Yamaguchi (until I found out I hate falling on ice), then a marine biologist (until I found out I hate science), and then a video game designer (until I found out I can't program for the life of me).

Aww.

I never figured out what I wanted to do, and now I don't do much of anything.

I have regrets.

I spent a long time wearing ripped jeans, reading literature, and parading about like I had a clue. It was fun and I miss it sometimes but...I ran out of cash and ideas somewhere between Vermont and New York City. So I went to law school.

Dun dun dun duuuuuuuuuh!!

It's not terrible. It beats a job in terms of vacations, I freelance for an indie webzine that doesn't censor me, and I can screw around on websites like this instead of do my endless homework.

Maybe this stupid JD will magically get me one of those fun jobs I keep hearing about. Or maybe I'm totally up #$@&-creek.

Maybe one in ten lawyers I've known were actually happy being lawyers. I don't know why; some of them were doing mostly divorces (sad, bitter, angry people) and criminal (criminal people) but others do corporate or business law which shouldn't be that bad.

I would think that being a corporate or business lawyer would be the most depressing type of work in the field. At least divorce and criminal lawyers get to screw people and ruin lives on a much smaller scale.

Believe me man, the abyss looked back at me a long time ago when I decided to go. I work afternoons at a licensing and patent firm. My boss literally greets me everyday with, "Seriously kid, why do you want to ruin your life doing this?"

I'll think of something in a year or two, maybe it'll even involve games or writing if I'm lucky.
