So... just finished the game and have this tiny little bitter taste in my mouth.
The final few fights in the game were irritating, repetitive and felt very lazy and last-gen.
It was strange that a game with so many fantastic and novel ideas resorted to such stale, cheap, antiquated game mechanics.
I refer to:
Spamming you with endless henchmen who insisted on smacking the back of your head as you tried to focus on taking out the main boss ( and don't start me on those damn red thugs with the knives...)
Repeating the same boss type over and over, with exactly the same play mechanics each time... throw Batarang, dive out the way, punch stunned mutant. Over and over.
Killer Croc - An overly long chase sequence through a confusing maze interrupted by cheap one hit kills
Mr Zasz - Throw a Batarang in his face.
Poison Ivy and Scarecrow were pretty fun to fight, and thier presentation was awesome.
But I could not believe it when the Joker mutated into a huge, wonderful monster character model and the battle turns out to be... a brawl with more henchmen. We don't even get to fight Joker properly. LAME.
That said, the rest of the game was utterly sublime and I still feel it was a masterpiece of the medium, doing crazy Bats a lot of justice.
Did people enjoy these final battles or feel they were an anticlimactic finish?
