So... just finished the game and have this tiny little bitter taste in my mouth.

The final few fights in the game were irritating, repetitive and felt very lazy and last-gen.

It was strange that a game with so many fantastic and novel ideas resorted to such stale, cheap, antiquated game mechanics.

I refer to:

Spamming you with endless henchmen who insisted on smacking the back of your head as you tried to focus on taking out the main boss ( and don't start me on those damn red thugs with the knives...)

Repeating the same boss type over and over, with exactly the same play mechanics each time... throw Batarang, dive out the way, punch stunned mutant. Over and over.

Killer Croc - An overly long chase sequence through a confusing maze interrupted by cheap one hit kills

Mr Zasz - Throw a Batarang in his face.

Poison Ivy and Scarecrow were pretty fun to fight, and thier presentation was awesome.

But I could not believe it when the Joker mutated into a huge, wonderful monster character model and the battle turns out to be... a brawl with more henchmen. We don't even get to fight Joker properly. LAME.

That said, the rest of the game was utterly sublime and I still feel it was a masterpiece of the medium, doing crazy Bats a lot of justice.

Did people enjoy these final battles or feel they were an anticlimactic finish?

I didn't even enjoy the battle with Ivy, pretty much the only 'battles' I found great were Scarecrow's illusions... and I had to laugh at Joker's exploding gadgets in the final brawl. *Honk Honk Coocoo BOOM!* ^^
You're right, if there's one weak point to be found in this game it's the boss battles. They still look good, but they just feel cheap.

Yeah, I gotta say I was quite dissappointed aswell.

When fighitng Killer Croc, I constantly thought

"Hey, this is probably just an introduction to killer croc before fighting him on some final stage or something."

But no, you just make him fall down.

Yeah, the boss battles are lame but if you watched movies/ TAS or read the comics... wasn't much battles there. Bane was dead on though... come on, die and see the little taunt video, comicbook reference.

I actually quite enjoyed the final Joker battle. You hardly hit him. But seeing the Joker's face pretty much explode in HD is quite fantastic. Zsasz, you cant really expect much of a fight for because he is just a serial killer, he doesnt have a fancy suit or anything. Poison Ivy was fun and the Scarecrow bits were absolutely stellar. However Bane and Killer Croc were quite disappointing.

Eh...I didn't really mind. The final boss fight wasn't Earth-shakingly spectacular, but it got the job done, and that's all we can ask for, ri-- ri-ri-ri-ri-ri-ri-ri-ri-ri-...

In case you can't tell, I was a big fan of the third scarecrow sequence especially. On the other hand, I thought the one with Croc was the definition of SHIT.

Killer Croc wasn't cheap-I didn't even come close to getting grabbed etc.

Scarecrow and Poison Ivy were great, though Poison Ivy was intensely easy to beat.

Bane, can't fault him. The Titan blokes were boring rehashes of him. So was Joker. Zsasz was lame, but what do you expect-He's hardly a supervillain.

I hope they make a sequel with the Black Mask, Prometheus, Two-Face, Scarecrow, Bane and whatever else. Black Mask and Prometheus would be great, as they boast skills equal to Batman's (so you'd expect to fight someone with the same moveset to Batman, minus the cape/batarangs in place of grenades/guns).

This game seems more and more like Bioshock every day. From the greatness that it was to the fact that both final bosses are pushovers.

I felt that the game did use the super strong guys a little to much. With Bane it was orginal. But then they bring in around a total of 5 other fights that are the exact same.

I enjoyed the Killer Croc fight mainly becuase it felt creepy like I had no idea where he would come out next. Not to mention that I didn't know that he would fall down if you threw the Batarang at his collar. So I spent the entire fight running from him when he appeared.

I do want to see a sequel match that greatness. Hopefully with Killer Croc,Bane,Scarecrow,Husk, and Ra's Al Ghul (I know his corpse was the answer to one of the riddles but if you come back during Joker's party you'll find that he vanished.)

That Joker at the end was ridiculous. LOL. Looked really cool though. Big props to the modeling team on that one.

Yeah the boss battles were not too special in this one but hey, I think the best part about the game was walking into a room with about 20 henchmen and then proceeding to beat the shit out of them.

The scarecrow and poison ivy battles were the best. What they did for the trap at the end of the croc sequence was a good idea. If that had given you the oppertunity to set traps up as you went though croc's lair to ensure your survival that would have made the battle really bad-ass.

I got so pissed off when they showed him breaking Batman over his knee again.

I actually said out loud, "Why did you make me relive that, you bastard!!??"

OT, the boss fights were kinda weak. Bane was good, Ivy was more old school kinda fight, Scarecrow was fun, and I actually enjoyed Croc's fight. I was freakin' out the whole time. But the fight with Joker was a little lackluster. I at least wanted it to be a one on one fight. And I really wanted to be able to fight Harley.

I haven't played but they actually did that? Seems kinda cheesy to me. When I read about referencing Bane I assumed he had dialog like "I'm gonna BREAK you, BAT" or something else that is subtle.

None of them really bugged me that much except for the final fight with the Joker.

What the hell is the point of you getting all hyped up on Titan and growing a mohawk if I don't get to actually kick your ass?!

I didn't have a problem with any of them. However, for me a good boss fight is one I want to try to finish again after failing, rather than just putting the controller down and walking away.
