I was dissapointed with the boss battles. I agree with everyone in saying that the Scarecrow parts were awesome, but the Joker fight was ridiculous, although I do agree with Torque669 with the bit when you see Batman kick Joker in the face is pretty dam cool.

You know, just watching the Goddamned Batman put Explosive Gel on his fist, then saying "I'll never let you win." before punching Titan-Joker in the face almost made up for that crappy boss fight. Almost.

And agreed, the fights where it's nothing but easy mooks (Not counting those fucking Stun Baton wielders), just watching Batman tear through them is better than any fight scene in any other Batman film. But the Stealth Sections were even better surprisingly. I mean that game just does so many things right, that the bad boss battles really stand out.
Yeah that cutscene was just brimming over with awesome...

The stun baton and knife wielders were very irritating because they broke up the fluid nature of the combat. It annoyed my that thier attacks couldn't be countered.

The stealth sections were super fun. It was really fun to plan out the strategy to terrify and take down the goons one by one in various sadistic ways...

I'm glad you enjoyed it that much too though, the game did almost everything really well.

PS jumping off the clock tower never got old!

Well, word around the rumor mill is that there coming out with a expansion pack.
Yes, I believe there's some DLC planned for next week.
Seriously? What's it going to be?

The ending hinted at a possible DLC or sequel, mentioning 2 Face involved in some crime or other.

It did get kind of old when they effectively reused the same combt from the disfigured henchman onwards, and Killer Croc's lair was kind of creepy when you first entered it, but once you'd figured out what you had to do it just became systematic and repetitive. However, there was one thing that really scared me; when you'd strike Croc with a batarang as he was doing an animation (eg. coming around a corner) there would be a couple of seconds between hitting him and his collar going off, which is pretty worrying when he's only five metres away...

Scarecrow fights were awesome. Poison Ivy's was okay (I enjoyed it for some reason). Bane's was... understandable, he is just a normal guy on steroids after all. Zasz was also understandable cos he has no powers or abilities. Joker's was the worst though. Punch him 9 times and he dies? Come on! But Batman's "FALCON PAWNCH!" moment after the battle made up for it.

WHERE WAS HARLEY QUINN FIGHT??!?!?!
Harly Quinn was never a fighter. More of an acrobat.

The game. Is AWESOME!!

Yes, we all know that scarecrow was the best boss,(even though you never actually fight him).
The sequel should be set around wayne manor and certain parts of gotham.
Also, y'know the post credits cutscene?

Scarebeast, anyone?

The boss battles were relatively disappointing, but it would have been hard to fight them any other way, I feel - epic, 20 minute fight scenes work well in films and comics, but in a game, they're just tiring. As has been mentioned, the fighting mechanics wasn't suited to fighting massive monsters anyway, so I think it got it as right as it could have done, even if it was always going to be flawed.

It'll probably just be some extra challenge maps, unfortunately, I can't see them extending the main storyline so soon after release. Maybe in the future, but I doubt they'd take Batman off Arkham Island for anything even if they did. I don't expect the Joker maps to stay exclusive for too long, though.

The falcon punch was amazing alright... exploding batglove!

Did anyone ele notcie the bit after the credits?

I have heard a rumour it's a different villain's hand each time but that could be utter BS...

It is. Its randomized between Scarecrow, Bane and Killer Croc.

Most of the fights were mediocre, but my favorite parts were the Scarecrow parts. They were so much fun.

I really enjoyed most of the boss battles in Arkham Asylum. They all felt true to the opponent and Batman's fighting style. Only complaints were niggling little things like: this area should be bigger (Poison Ivy).

And then.

The final boss is a joke (No pun intended). And not the good kind! NOT something the Joker would do in my opinion. And I am rather a Batman nerd.

I loved scarecrow, the others were pretty bad, but not dire

The games fight system isn't really built for boss battles. It's built for fighting tons of very weak henchman easily. Fighting huge bosses with tons of health bars just doesn't work. I mean, both Zsasz fights were really disappointing, the Croc portion was annoying, and Poison Ivy was just inane. And the final fight, don't get me started. I mean, it's stupid in both a gameplay and story sense.

The Scarecrow portions are the best parts of the game however.
Use the middle stick to dodge the Joker's Gun.
My favourite part of the game right there. Pretty much straight outta Eternal Darkness, but awesome regardless.

It's true most of the boss fights devolved into the same formula, but the boss fights take up a lot of the combat in the game since, for the most part, there isn't a ton of straight-up combat going on.

And I didn't think the Killer Croc segment was bad at all - in fact I was totally taken in by it.

The bane fight was pretty good ,so good in fact that rocksteady felt the need to use it 3/4 more times Croc`s boss fight was actually quite good i thought ,very tense ,and way better than having another punch-up ,ivy`s fight was a yawn fest frankly ,and the joker boss fight was stupidly easy provided you kept an eye on the gun locker.

As for the scarcrow sections, i spilt them into 2 sections ,the platforming bits (which are incredibly meh) ,and the bits that precede them (which are pure twisted genius)

Like everyone else, I was blown away with the Scarecrow encounters (made me want to replay Psychonauts). After his first boss battle, I thought the side-scrolling/giant Scarecrow thingy was brilliant and I couldn't wait to see where they would go with the next inevitable encounter. Sure enough, your next two run-ins with him have even better introductions, but unfortunately the actual fights with Scarecrow are identical to the first, which was a huge disappointment. I was certain they would run with the creative possibilities, but they simply repeated the first idea. Twice!

It sounds odd, but for me, Scarecrow is both the highlight of the game its biggest disappointment. Even moreso than the Joker battle.

Having said that, B:AA is still the most fun I've had playing a game in a long, long time.

i didn't really mind the boss battles to be honest, apart from killer croc, which was a piece of shit. but apart from that i really don't think i could pick a hole in the entire game. it's become one of my favourite games very quickly.
