Iv been trying to install this game retail for almost 3 hours now. It gets to the second disk part, then opens a second installer that then asks for the 2nd disk but doesnt do anything, when you click ok it just opens the "Please insert second disk" window again, and again and again every time you click ok to get the install to work. And just to get to the second disk part takes like 45 minutes.

The STEAM version was pretty bad, too. First, download the game, then decrypt it (WHY decrypt it? THERE WAS NO PRELOAD!), then do all the first-time launch touch-ups (which you can skip, if you know how), then you have to tell SecuROM your game is legit, and connect to the internet. Then the game launches, and the splash screen takes forEVER to finally come up, and when the game gets up, you have to then tell GFWL that your game is legit before finally getting to the main menu.

Whats funny is I didn't find this too inconvenient, considering some processes OTHER PC games force you to jump through hoops for. No matter, however, I beat the game with my PS3 controller and loved every single second of it.

Sometimes this happens with games that use securom DRM because of conflicting programs, that's probably what it is if you go to "my computer" and the drive seems empty while the second disk is in there. Try disabling any drive utilities like Daemon-tools, PowerIso, Alcohol 160%, etc, and also anti-virus software.

Bummer, that really sucks its a good game. It's because of crap like this that I prefer console games even though I have a gaming pc. I hope someone out there knows how to fix this.

Seriously, Arkham City requires GFWL even if you buy it through Steam? That's pretty lame, I believe I'll rethink getting a PC copy then.

And they wonder why people pirate games. This is the reason right here. i have all my virtual drives turned off, its crap like this which makes me want to take it back get a refund and just play skyrim(a game that works properly) some more.

Its funny sometimes that they think Securom is a good idea too. I hope someone lost a job over this, i really do hope they end up homeless and eating catfood for the annoyance im going through.

Don't get discouraged, GFWL pops up when you launch, but I just hit escape and go about my business. Doesn't interfere with the game, and STEAM tracks my achievements anyways, so I couldn't care less what GFWL thinks.

Honestly, I recommend the PC version (if you have a pretty ok PC, that is).

I have the Xbox version and it was literally fine, so it might be unique to your platform, prolly already knew that though

It's almost as if they're trying to get you to buy the console version instead -_-

How is the PC version? I know Arkham Asylum was a god awful port. Did they do a better job on Arkham City?

Sounds like the exact reason why I refused to pick up BM: Asylum for $7.50 when it goes on sale for that cheap. Steam is enough, don't make me activate my product elsewhere!

@x-machina How was Arkham Asylum an awful port? You had all the graphics settings, they put in PhysX and it even had a changed HUD to fit the PC controls. And I don´t remember any bugs.
Only thing that was awful about it was GFWL.

If it's still not working you might be best off just downloading it off steam, you can register it using your CD Key, I had to do the same thing with Deus Ex, wouldn't install from Disc.

If your using INCD which is part of the package for Adaptec's CD/DVD Driver/Burner Software its likely SecureROM has choked on it. Its a problem I've run into a few times lately.

Go into task manager shut INCD down if its there and the install should go fine after that. If thats not the problem ... then I have no idea which program SecureROM has decided to choke on this time, but its still the likely offender.

Sounds a lot like gta IV, minus requiring a windows live account TO PLAY A FUCKING STEAM GAME!

I had no trouble with the install at all, or with securom or GFWL, even with my virtual drive on. The game is amazing despite on or 2 instances of getting stuck in walls.
