I beg to differ. I've been a Batman fan all my life and when they announced Robin, I hightailed it to Best Buy as fast as the speed limits would allow (possibly faster). I do feel as though they've offered up sort of a Sophie's Choice for gamers though and not just on Arkham City. It sucks having to pick which content lives or dies on your copy.Mad Stalin said:hardcore fans don't want Robin anyway, whats your problem?
I'm pretty sure it's not Dick or Damien. It'll prolly be Todd. Tim was killed off if I recall?Kpt._Rob said:Here's a question: which Robin? Cause I gotta tell you, that could be a deal breaker. I might pay to play as Damien or Todd, hell, maybe even Dick... but not Tim. These things matter!
Buy from EB. We get Blue Jocks Batman.Hachibi said:I'm in Australian what am I going to do? and what they are doing in the US is BS! 8D
Well, looking at the Robin from Arkham City, he looks more like Tim than any of the other Robins. And Tim, by the way, isn't dead (maybe he was at some point, but what with the whole Nekron thing dead has never been too dead in the DCU). Right now, however, Tim has taken up the mantle of Red Robin, the very same Red Robin who is on the current Teen Titans team.StBishop said:I'm pretty sure it's not Dick or Damien. Could be either. Does it really make a difference?zehydra said:How does the extra content work? Is it unlockable, already stored on the machine, or is it a key for a download?
yes, I refuse to purchase material that I have to pay extra to use.thenumberthirteen said:Could be either. Does it really make a difference?zehydra said:How does the extra content work? Is it unlockable, already stored on the machine, or is it a key for a download?
You'd be paying extra for a download anyway. You don't need the DLC.zehydra said:yes, I refuse to purchase material that I have to pay extra to use.thenumberthirteen said:Could be either. The in-game Robin is named Tim Drake, but seems to take after Jason with a dash of Damian. More or less a new creation for the game universe.Kpt._Rob said:Well, looking at the Robin from Arkham City, he looks more like Tim than any of the other Robins. It doesn't make sense to me that he'd be Todd, mostly because more than any of the other Robins, Todd has left the role behind. Now Todd actually did die at one point, at the hands of the Joker as I recall. But he came back; right now he's still wearing the mantle of the Red Hood, and he's been teamed up with Starfire and Arsenal. Still, considering that he was evil before that, and that DC has been working very hard to have him leave that part of his past behind, I just don't buy it.
He could also be a younger Dick, which actually seems to make more sense to me than any of the other options. In many ways, Dick has always been the most iconic Robin, not only that but even when he outgrew the role and became Nightwing, he never really escaped it completely. Not only that, Dick (and Tim) are the only two Robins who have never really had a compromised past. To top it off, while it's possible I just haven't heard about it, to the best of my knowledge Nightwing is not appearing in the game, which would mean that Dick wasn't pre-occupied with his attempt to outgrow his initial role.
I guess I could also buy that he was an older Damien, and if the Arkham City team was looking to make things dark, they could hardly choose a better Robin than Batman's own mildly sociopathic son. The other point in favor of this character as the Robin in the game is that he is the current Robin.
Of course there's also the possibility that the Robin in the game is not meant to be any specific Robin at all, but instead an amalgam of all the Robins. A character whose mask we are not meant to probe past, especially considering that he's only going to be playable in challenge maps.
So in conclusion, I'm saying that Dick or Damien are the two most likely options, well that or the option that it's not any specific Robin at all. Tim being less likely than either of those, and Todd being the least likely of all.
Um simple wait about 2 months and they;ll be selling/giving away all the pre-order content online The last Batman did it and it wasn't the only game to do it either it's just a mater of when they release it.mik1 said:The gaming community has been bullied into pre-ordering games with gamestop for a while now. We see this in almost all big releases these days. Such as Arkham City, you receive a joker carnival map when you pre-order with gamestop. BUT WAIT!!!!
If you pre-order at best buy you get fucking robin as a playable character.
Isn't the purpose of these pre-order, extra content bullshit, to get the hardcore fans to buy from a certain retailer???
WELL WHAT ARE ARKHAM CITY"S HARDCORE FANS TO DO!!!????
Buy two copies of the game to receive full content??
I say "fuck that" publishers need to get their shit together and stop whoring their games to retailers that pay them money to take content away from everyone else!
...Thoughts?
:sorry for the double post it told me there was an error the first time
I was never planning on getting the DLC. That's why I would be irritated if I ended up paying for DLC that I couldn't use, until I "purchased" it.thenumberthirteen said:You'd be paying extra for a download anyway.
