Ok, so after searching for a thread about it, and not finding any, I decided to go ahead and start my own, one that I'm pretty sure will waste away and be forgotten, but I figure I should at least give it a shot.

Armored Core 4, a game that could be hailed for it's customization, immersion, and detail, whilst being slandered for it's broken mechanics. difficulty and short, sometimes frustrating campaign. Regardless of this, I've been a fan of the series since me and my friends have been dueling with AC's in a basement with Armored Core 2: Another Age. It's an old game, and the first I actually grabbed for my 360, but I don't know anyone who plays it, and most that do have gone over to Armored Core 4A (For Answer) which has released in japan, but has no planned release anywhere else.

I'm just curious...has anyone played? Still play? Have any thoughts on it, good or bad? Anything at all?

Lolz. I started my Core career with the original AC1 and Project Phantasma. Still have em too. Think AC3 was the last I played, don't have a PS3 so if 4 is on PS3 I ain't gonna see it any time soon.
It's on the 360 too.

i played AC 2 on the PS2 and ill probably get 4 when i get back home from germany but i hail the AC series as great for blowing stuff up when wanting to.
although in AC 2 all you seem to use are the caterpillar tracks because the bipedal leg system could not support you mech most of the time because a lot of the guns weighed twice that of the legs...i hope 4A comes to the pal regions that would be sweet.

I remember that about AC2...brutal

Sega (who distributes it for From outside of Asia) hasn't even said anything about it coming outside that region, and reportedly someone on the inside had said, no one has even said anything about the game around the office, never mind releasing it here, or anywhere else, including pal regions.

We can hope for the best, but expect the worse...i'm pissed though, in 4A you can fly

I've not had a chance to play Armoured Core 4 yet, and never really knew about the series prior to the latest installment, as I never had a PS2.

One game I did like was called Phantom Crash, for the original Xbox. Most awesome mech-arena game ever. Wish they'd make a 360 sequel with Xbox Live.

I've played:

Armored Core 2: Loved it, ended up with a tank-based mech with the best back-mounted weapons available. Then again, I lost 3-4 times to start with, so I got the cheating auto-helps such as throwable blades and constant radar.

Armored Core 3: Played it, loved it, still have my save with 104+ wins, 0 losses and having in my garage EVERY AC PART IN THE GAME, including all the OP-INTENSIFY abilities.

Armored Core: Last Raven: Huge pile of suck and failure, mainly due to the sucky control scheme. Only game I ever traded in.

Armored Core 4: Pretty awesome, the campaign was somewhat short and it was incredibly frustrating at times, but I did rather well considering. I even beat that level where you fight the AC with the Moonlight blade the first time I played it.

I think the main reason i brought this up was because I just recently S ranked all the missions, and the next logical step is online play, but no one plays online anymore...bummer

I wish AC wasn't so clunky it worked for a game like Mechwarrior but not so much in a game much closer to Zone Of the Enders. If AC was as smooth as ZOE it would top it easily because of the customization options, it makes me kind of sad really.

I think AC4 ruined the franchise with all it's flying around all zippy like. Felt like I was playing some terrible gundam-wing game. Chromehounds has replaced AC for me until they get it back on track.

I've played the demo of AC4, and I love the fact that the game is still fairly challenging (to me at least), but the mechs feel so much easier to maneuver versus the games' predecessors, and I lvoe AC4 just for that extra maneuverability.

I love armored core 4.

It is a flawed gem that people the world over should be forced to play, and enjoy

sure, its frustrating and rather samey, but it DOES look impressive, and the customisation is awesome. Lets give it a medal

The last game I played was Last Raven, which, though it had a huge repertoire of parts to create, the control scheme was goofy and I didn't much care for it. I could beat any mission almost with the tank treads and the uber-shoulder-cannon, though, so I liked it for being able to be heinously overpowered. :D
