Better. Still not great but it's better. The acting's improved considerably and the action is somewhat fun even if this whole "I'm gonna smack dudes with a bow" thing is still very silly.

Still I can't say I would recommend it to most people unless you're really desperate for some schlok. There's better TV and there's better schlok.
Also Felicity is still awful.

EDIT: Also it's an official product but fucking nobody knows how to say Ra's Al Ghul. Dumbest shit.
You know...a bow and arrow are fairly lethal weapons. Seriously.

If you don't like Felicity, then the show would be painful for you, but I think things are going to get ugly with Felicity now that Slade is back in the picture.

I started a crazy thread on how I thought Arrow was the best show on TV during it's first season. Many of you responded saying "Game of Thrones is the best show on TV".

I'm wondering where we're at with Arrow at this point, with Canary and Flash and whoever else they're planning on revealing through the course of this current season.

I have to say, it's a solid story that they've created for the TV adaptation up to this point, and I can't get enough of it. Well cast IMO. I'm not a fan of the comics btw, but I really enjoy the show.

So where are we with the current season? Have we been keeping up with it? Is Game of Thrones still the best show?
It's better than "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." because stuff actually happens every episode. I'd profoundly enjoy it if this show is part of the new DC Cinematic Universe continuity. I mean, the guy who plays Green Arrow has already voiced him in "Injustice: Gods Among Us."

"Arrow" is one of my favorite shows on television right now, along with "Psych," "South Park," "White Collar," "Community," and "Suits." "Continuum" and "Lost Girl" are also very good. "Brooklyn 99" is looking to be the best new show of 2013.

Comic book characters introduced just this season so far: Ra's al Ghul, Black Canary, Solomon Grundy, Flash, and Brother Blood. That's a ton more than MAoS.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is ok. I think people are being too critical with that show. It's slowly finding itself. Will it become great? I seriously doubt it. For now it's just ok.

I've been wondering about Contunuum. We'll have to check that out. Brooklyn 99 is really fun.

Season 2 is basically improving on season 1 in every way. One of the few shows where they actually listen to criticism and fix stuff or get rid of stuff that isn't working. Remember how almost every episode used to have that shitty voice over? Apart from the intros, that's gone.

On a side note, how's the other big super hero show doing? I watched the first 5 episodes and gave up on it just like I almost did with Arrow. Can anyone say if the show has improved yet? Is there an overarching plot going on now that's actually interesting? Have the characters become even remotely likeable? Have they killed off Skye yet? I really wanted to like this show so if anyone here has been watching it and seen it improve a lot, let me know.
Didn't they only do the Ollie voiceover for like, the first half of the first season? I remember it stopping pretty early because I think it was supposed to signify his character arc.

As for Marvel, I think its fine so far. They had one pretty amazing episode (set after the second Thor movie), and a pretty good mid-season finale (although its pretty obvious to see what is going to happen in that episode the more it goes along). They seem to slowly be adding stuff to the characters. Episode 6 is actually one of my favorites from the show as well. For reference, about 3 of the first 5 episodes are important to the plot. Not better than Arrow, but I enjoy it.

OT: I think season 2 is going along nicely. Is it better than season 1? I don't know. I feel like I'd have to wait till season 2 is over. I have no doubt that they are going to wrap up the story arcs nicely, but I appreciated season 1 more when I compared to how it started, and how it ended. Going to have to wait till season 2 ends to see the overall journey and then compare to season 1 to see which is better.

I will say that they have (or seem to have) a lot more characters this time around. When I see Laurel show up after not appearing for a few episodes I'm like, "Oh Laurel! I sorta forgot about you". Not a negative point or anything, just slightly interesting.

EDIT: Forgot to mention this, but outside of stuff like the Justice League cartoon, I don't really know anything about Green Arrow and his rogues gallery. Been enjoying the show immensely.

Yeah I know they're lethal. That's why it would probably make more sense if he took an extra thing along that is actually designed for nonlethal melee or ranged combat and didn't just smack people with the bow.
Also it's bloomin' Arrow. They could just make up some non-lethal bow or something and the show would probably gladly go for it, it's around that level of silliness.

But hey, maybe Felicity will die and make the show approximately 243% better. But I doubt it.

I kinda liked the more "Down to earth" style of Season 1, don't get me wrong, I like how they are going to get legit superpowers in with both the Flash and Deathstroke, but there was something about the normal villains like Count Vertigo that I liked.

Best on TV? Hell Naw, still beats Man of Steel though :p

LOL only 243%?? Dude...Felicity is hawt, I dunno how you could hate a hot nerd, unless you're not into women or nerds, which is entirely your prerogative. But seriously, I think they're gonna do something heavy with her character very soon. I know that's why you're not into her.

As for smacking people with the bow - I don't want non-ficton in my fictional tv universe. You call it silly, that's cool. I'm content in my silly awesome tv show world with hawt nerds and lethal bow smackers.

The thing with Ra's All Ghul... if they spelled it more phonetically, people might actually get it right. I seem to remember someone saying it like "Raysh" Ahl Gool...like from the Animated Series or something like that. Now gimmie my cookie for saying it right... I don't even know the source material as well as most others would.

Season 1 was excellent. Season 2 is actually building on the previous season in a way that I'm enjoying. Vertigo was great. The Dark Archer was better. =)

If the idiots in charge of MAoS had any sense, they would have allowed the writers to introduce a Marvel staple that would take a few episodes to explain. But, of course, they didn't let them do that for stupid, idiotic reasons.
Well, we also need time to adjust to the characters. Like I can't really get into FitSimmons. They are kind of annoying to me. They're growing on me a little bit because it's been like 8 episodes so far, but it took a while.

If they explained everything in 1 or 2 episodes, I think things would still be kinda funky. I like the Asian chick because she has more depth now, I like the hacker chick well enough, and Colson is the best thing on that show. I dunno, we have to have faith in Whedon to come through. Firefly took a few episodes to find its bearing. If the show is a complete disaster, I blame Disney. They're literally unbelievable for me right now - I think they're fake.

Oh man that was super terrible. I think they were going for a comic book narration box type idea, but thankfully they realised that didn't translate to television at all.

Gah, so dry and dull.

you...you monster. GET OUT OF HERE. Don't you dare talk about my felicity that way *sooths the picture in my frame on the shelf*

also, because I'm genuinely curious, what is better "schlok" out there that is comparable to arrow? (as in, under the same genre/type of show) Because I'd love to watch it so I can enjoy whatever it is you are enjoying.

OT: Really enjoyed(ing?) season 2, love all the characters they are bringing in and I think everyone is doing an all around better job this season, hell I can't tell if I'm more intrigued by the flashback stuff or the present timeline anymore.

I stuck around through season 1 mostly out of love for the source material and was worried that the series was just gonna be the dark knight except as a tv series. The last few episodes however have made me incredibly excited though.

Also for those of you interested in potential future characters,Star labs is where Cyborg gets his parts at and i'm pretty sure its connected to firestorm as well.

I also seem to recall olly mentioning bludhaven last season which is Nightwing's city.

I just like that Laurel's dad played Harry Dresden in the short-lived Dresden Files show (R.I.P.). That's about the only thing I liked about Arrow.

I thought the first season was enjoyable, but very hit and miss. It felt like it was going down the Nolan route, making it all dark and taking out comic book elements to make it more realistic. Season 2 has been a massive improvement. It is better integrating elements of the comics into it, making it actually FEEL like a comic based show, rather than one ashamed of it's roots. I am really excited to see where it goes from here.

Frankly, Game of Thrones may be one of the most overrated shows I've ever seen. I'm getting kinda sick of the books too.

Arrow started slow and formulaic but really picked up as the season went. I haven't seen any of Season 2 yet but I hear it's even better.

I gave up a few episodes into season 2. I really tried to like it but all I could think was that it so badly wanted to be Batman. Starling City is simply Gotham light and instead of using bad guys from Green Arrows rogues gallary (granted I know nothing about his rougues gallary) they are simply using either Batmans (Deadshot, The League of Assassins) or the Teen Titans (Deathstroke, Brother Blood).

Plus the island reveal stuff is taking far to long.
Green Arrow never really had a memorable rogues' gallery of his own outside of Dark Archer and Count Vertigo (who we've seen so far) and Clock King (who's now remembered more for his appearance on Batman:TAS).

Season 2 is really picking up well. You should definitely check it out from episode one.

I was disappointed in Game of Thrones. I actually guessed who they were going to kill off in season one, and then I became even more disappointed. It's just an excuse to give people a show that's super dark. I really enjoyed the first few episodes, but then meh.

That's primarily because of all the interpersonal drama with Oliver coming back after being missing for 5 years, and then eventually sorting out his reasons for returning to the city. I think it's important to have the main character sift through his own motivations and struggle with the people around him.

NOW however...Slade is about do really mess things up on just about every level for him. What I really like about Arrow is that some of the enemies he fights are too much for him. They actually show him losing fights at times.

Sorry if I look for more in a character than "ooh she's pretty that means I like her". And the nerd thing is her being a TV nerd, meaning that everything she says is "whoops, socially awkward! How cooky!" Not sure what you meant with that little quip though.

And yeah I'm fine with silly and non-fiction but I can't see how any of the melee combat costumed Oliver is involved in is supposed to look cool. Agree to disagree I guess.

I don't watch a massive amount of TV so this might be limited but a few examples:
From what I've seen of Heroes (the first season) it's much quicker to embrace the crazy superpowers and generally has more enjoyable characters
Castle is a better detective sort of thing. It's not a superhero show or much of an action show but the characters are more fun, better defined and less annoying for the most part.
And they're not TV but all of the cinematic timeline Avengers films that I've seen I'd rate above Arrow. Apart from Iron Man 2. Christ that was awful.
