'I, on the other hand, will continue to suppress my rage at the thought of Yahtzee's unbridled success and continue to enjoy his videos even if the new intro is awful and those things he puts in after the review is over are retarded.'

To be perfectly honest, this is pretty true. I love his reviews but I detest the music and long adverts.
No, I think he means the little sidenotes that he adds after the review; not the ads.

While I agree on the new start/end theme, I actually like the little captions.

This reminds me of the time I said I disliked Yahtzee, Something Awful and trolls. The ultimate combination has finally arrived, who will ever stop it?
SA is made of trolls, it is in legion with EncyclopediaDramatica, 4chan, 12chan, all the bloody chans, and ebaumsworld so trusting it and taking it seriously isn't entirely advised on my part.

What?!

Something Awful MOCKED someone?!

ON MY INTERNETS?!?!

...seriously, I think there's just a bunch of people who are jealous that their hats aren't nearly as spiffy as Yahtzee's.

That really is a spiffy hat.

SA has always been very tongue-in-cheek, you can't take anything it says seriously.
That's just a free pass for trolling, which is exactly what they use it for. Like I said before, I think it's childish. "We didn't really mean it" doesn't excuse being a jerk.

Or people that just hate the things he outlined in the article, which you probably ignored.

Um..I think folks may be missing the tongue-in-cheek nature I see clearly running rampant through that article. The author seems to be poking fun at the denizens of SA's overwhelming desire to hate everything and anything. I'm not taking sentences like "You can't really find any valid reason to hate this guy no matter how hard you try. At least if he were female we could accuse her of being an attention whore or something." too seriously...are you?

The article's main thrust -- that people love to hate Yahtzee simply because others love him -- is entirely valid. As for his claim that no-one had ever heard of The Escapist before Yahtzee showed up...well, that's obviously untrue, but it's a pretty common perception.

I thought it was actually pretty amusing, overall.
I like your style, kid, you totally hit the nail on the head with that one.

I read the articles and feature content the same way AI read a newspaper, if it's interesting to me I click on it. I'm not a big SP reader, but I know it's there and I've given it a chance, and when I was studying game's journalism "The Escapist" came up on more than one occasion "Yahtzee" didn't once.

No doubt a lot of people are here for ZP and nothing else. That's fine, I only tune into the BBC for Dr. Who and A&E for Law & Order reruns. But The Escapist existed for quite some time before ZP and without it ZP wouldn't be anything. Chicken / Egg?

I guess the people on the SA forums only stop by for ZP, but what about everyone else?

You wouldn't notice. Alot of people would. I don't think the escapist would be as big as it is sans Yahtzee.
So? Then we have the forums all to ourselves.
Uh...you know, no Yahtzee equals no advertising money which equals less shiny features like badges, contests, and well, servers.

I agree with the above poster. A lot of people seem to be forgetting or ignoring that Zero Punctuation is by far the biggest thing on the Escapist. Don't try to deny it, no other article of video on the Escapist, no matter how high quality (and the stuff here is pretty high quality), gets 40+ pages of discussion and manages to stay ahead of the current day's or even the current hour's article when the episode of ZP was posted literally months ago.

Exactly, Yahtzee is our gold-mine and we best make sure he stays a productive one. I don't care how bad the reviews may get, we've got to keep bringing in the trolls if we want to support ourselves.

That actually reminds me of an essay I was going to write about how quality control is generally bad for sites on the internet... I really need to get on that, I think I could make it a good one.

Dice gaming is gone! Face it! Gone! Noone cares about Yahtzee although I have it in a box and never play it because I tried once but I lost the damn manual. C'mon in this day and age where we can waste our lives on the intertubes, why do we need games involving rolling die?

I don't get it... I'm supposed to care, why?
Because The Escapist has been insulted. Insulted I say!
Hmm... our honour has been defiled? This is war!

"Muum! I can't take out the rubbish now, I've got a war to fight! On the Internet! ... Sorry guys, I'll be back in 5."

I admit i found this website from Zero Punctuation and only watdched them for a while until i kept seing the recent forum posts and being interested. I found a community of mature gamers who you could have a proper intelligent conversation with and later found interesting articles different from the norm.

Yahzee is the best thing that could have happened to this website if just to let people know of the rest of the great things here. Unforgotten realms is quoted more than Yahzee sometimes even so this article is just bitter.
