1. They're called Infinity mushrooms. Whenever somebody names something with a word like "Infinity" or some other kind of neat sounding word which may have figurative and/or ironic meaning to the project, there's a good 30% or so increased chance that it's going to go horribly wrong.
Look, at least it's not called Icarus.

Or worse, Lazarus mushrooms.

I can't help but think this is one of the many times where people argue "what defines art". Well, usually do, but are too busy being interested in the scientific implications of it.

On a side note, I'm pretty sure I've seen a few movies that start this way and end with the fungus wiping out humanity.
So, as if zombies, robots, December 21st 2012 and nuclear war weren't enough, now we have to worry about fungi?! Good job! /sarcasm

This sounds cool and all but... I wouldn't want to be buried in one.

DO WANT

In all seriousness, MAN that is fucking cool! Although I still want to be cremated in first hand, but if nothing else, this is cool.

I predict that this woman has no friends. Just an educated guess. Nobody that's training mushrooms to eat her corpse would attract too much of a social crowd, except maybe botanist goths.

when i first read the title i thought it was saying that an artist discovered a flesh eating fungus that uses bodies as suits and thought to myself 'That's fucking horrifying'
now that i read the title i can relax knowing its about fungus eating dead people. im ok

Flesh eating Mushrooms? Sounds sexy.

I don't think its going to eat the flesh right before your eyes. Maybe over a period of days or weeks. . .

So she is making trained mushrooms that eat human flesh. Not only that you are mummified in the spores and the suit, and you look like a ninja. Fungal mummy ninja zombie (Okay the last bits redundant) But this may be the greatest horror movie monster on the planet. Or the End of the World as We Know It

I hate mushrooms (eating them, at least), so I'm not thrilled about the idea of them eating me after I die. I'll pass, but I still don't want to be embalmed when I die. Just let me go, thank you very much.

you know if you dig a hole and just put a fresh corpse in it, it decompose on its own. It naturally disappears over time. You don't need deathshrooms for that XD

I thought the formaldehyde was use to preserve a corpse, not dispose of it.

America probably uses formaldehyde more because of our misguided ideals about youth and beauty than any really practical reason.

That being said, I know you don't control what happens when you die or really care because your body is no longer in use by you (and in a sense, your body is constantly under attack from things that want to consume it anyway - bacteria etc.) but I really... REALLY dislike the idea of having a tailor-made mushroom man-eating suit. It would be so very strange to see fungi growing from someone's corpse. The pine tree in some German dude's lung was bad enough but having mushrooms make their home on your skin and rooting through your ribs is really... just... weird.
