First things first. I don't think the world is going to end. When December 22 comes round, I'm most likely going to be going around town saying to those who believed it will end "I knew the world wasn't going to end, but did you believe me? NOOOOOOO!" I'm not really going to do that, but I want to.

I've noticed this odd trend though, as the 21st draws ever closer, more and more people are going crazy, doing things that anyone with a rational mind would never do. It's happening more and more frequently.

There is one thing that I am pretty sure will happen on the 21st. There will be riots.

Here's my question: Are there any strange things that you've noticed as the 21st draws ever closer?

Yes, yes there is.

The little old woman across the road has started buying Tesco own brand coffee instead of ASDA own brand coffee.

I know this because she felt the need to tell me. Not during a conversation but as I walked past her.

As far as riots go.....

I live in the UK. Riots are like the Queens birthday, we have at least 2 a year.

Funny thing it, December 22 is my birthday. if the world does end, I might not live to be 21.

But unless we get a Fallout style nuclear war coming up, I don't see anything coming that's gonna destroy the world in the 21st of this month.

Yeah, the weather forecast seems a bit off . . .
And on the day of fire and reckoning, all television channels will be changed to their French counterparts.

The horror.

The horror.

The thing I find funny is those who have stocked up in preparation for the apocalypse...

...right now we see them as madmen, becuase we are sane enough to see it as a farce...

...But if they're right and they survive, they'll have noone to say "I told you so" to...

...ha...

I'm stocked up in preparation of economic collapse. But it could also serve as emergency rations during an apocolypse, I guess.

Does that count?

I frankly noticed that there are far less cars in the streets this week. now this could very well be due to weather conditions, but still.
also strangely christmas fever is much less this year.

I'm going to start the RelicNews Forums Game of the Year competition on that day for the 3rd year running. So it's a vaguely special date for me, but other than that, nah.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the middle-east being in relative chaos.
That's because he asked if we'd seen anything that's strange but recent.

The middle east has been in chaos for years.

I didn't notice anything personally, but I know of one interesting "something":
In one of my countries cities, one young lady has a shop, a small one. So, she had this idea: take grains, canned goods and other long-lasting foods, add candles, matches and what not, put them all in a bag, slap "end of the world supplies" on it and sell three times it's actual worth. It was a joke, of course.
And you know what is the funniest thing? No, not that people actually bought those packs. It's the fact that there were orders from other nearby towns.
People, are you crazy? Wait, I think this question ended up being rhetorical.

You, good sir are extremely lucky. I live in a rural part of Massachusetts, and even I know some people who are going quite insane with this whole thing.

The whole conflict in the middle-east kind of goes without saying. There has been conflict in the middle-east pretty much since Mesopotamia. I'm exaggerating, but only a little.

The weather's been a bit gloomy, but it's winter so that's not too strange. I feel like if some great cataclysm was coming we'd know by now, but maybe it starts on the 21st. I've got a brand new computer on the way that probably won't arrive until Christmas so I hope the prophecy is incorrect. I'm not too worried though, how many doomsday prophecies have there been in the past three centuries, and what makes this one so special?

I don't think the world will end... and man am I sick and tired of checking out the TV guide seeing TV shows on the subject, from discussions of the "Mayan Apocalypse" to nutters preparing for when the world ends.

The weather is slightly strange for this time of year.
People are going crazy for last minute Christmas presents, but they do that every year.
