i agree with most of your post, but i'd argue with this particular part.Eclipse Dragon said:It is phobic to say these people have something "wrong with them" that they're "mentally ill" that they're "physically ill"[footnote]even though plenty of asexual people have evidence from doctors to contradict this[/footnote], that they're "going to hell" that they're "repressed" that they're "traumatized and should seek help" that they're "special snowflakes"[footnote]Even though the sheer amount of people in this thread alone who identify with the term is contradictory to the word "special snowflake"[/footnote]. To feel the need to inject yourself into their lives and dictate how they should live, think and feel according to your perceived norm. That's phobia. [footnote]This entire statement applies to all orientations, not asexuality in particular.[/footnote]
mental illnes is a mental or behavioral pattern or anomaly that causes either suffering or an impaired ability to function in ordinary life.
that is pretty spot on for certain orientations. now that isn't an insult and it doesn't make them bad people. it just means that they can profit from professional help to have happier and healthier lives.
there is this stigma attached to being called "sick", but it's not an insult per se (even though some narrow minded asshats use it as one). not all, but certain asexuals have an underlying condition, and that's worth remembering.
