You could look at each episode as being another day in the Pokemon mythos, so in reality, it's only been a couple of years for Ash.

What worries me more than Ash's age is whether or not he's been changing his underwear every single day, like his Mom says.

Ok here is a better question, what the hell is wrong with the parents in the pokemon world. The allow their 10yr olds to go out into the world on there own. What if there are pedophiles or murderers hiding in that tall grass, along side all the wild pokemon.

I refuse to believe it. Ash isn't in a Coma, his mind just gets wiped by Team Rocket who then take his powerful final team, give him another Pikachu and ditch him in a new region.

That way they don't have to raise their own team, they just snatch his!

One: Pokemon World Wise, He is 10..11?
Two: He's not a perv like all we teens/adults are.
Three: He was raised better then that.

Maybe Ash is a mentally ill midget who likes to go explore the world. And since Pikachu is an animal maybe its lifespan is a lot shorter than humans and Ash just keeps replacing them.

Well that would explain why his Pikachu is weak at the start of each region.

When the Pichu Brothers were shown, he was 11, because him and Pikachu celebrated being together for one year, so going from that (which was just before jhoto) it seems he grows a year after each area (Kanto, Jhoto, Hoenn and Sinnoh) so he would only be 14, where as Brock would be 19 because he started following ash when he was 15 =) And Dawn Would be Near enough 11

Holy crap that's depressing xD

I really want the anime to conclude now to see if all of that turns out to be true, it'd make a brilliant ending.

Its simple.

The pokemon dimension is a hellish plane of existance where people never age and are forced to cacth a never ending stream of pokemon to get freedom from there never ending pain-filled existance.

But they there are always more.

THERE IS NEVER AN END.
