More balls then I have then, and you're not even male. The only slightly geeky t-shirt I own is one I got for free with my copy of MW2, and I don't dare to wear it. I'd love some thinkgeek.com t-shirts though (I want the WTF, What the Frak t-shirt, a Firefly one and the one saying Zombies Are Were People Too, and probably more), Science! and XKCD shirts.

In any case, would say that the majority of the female geek community is quite open about their geekiness? If so, I doubt your claim that you're not that rare anymore. Maybe it's just the places I've been to, but still.

...... I have difficulty myself finding other geek girls. (I've developed a radar, I can sit in a mall and rate how geeky passersby are. It's a fun game if you're bored.) On the internet, I notice a lot hide in play-by-post RP forums, and in real life try bookstores and look at local clubs. Barring that, I find it best to take mildly geeky girls and giving them gateway books and games to draw them into the fold. It's a slow process but usually worth it.

I hung up my Geek Coat a few years back, got fit, travel the world investigating castles of Europe, and dating semi-intelligent yet interesting models, but always secretly wish for a geek girl. Could you impart any 'draw them into the fold' manuevers I might try on my model girls with a super-mild geek side to turn them into the perfect woman?

I find that even non-geek girls tend to like, if presented in the right way:

For TV:
Firefly(it's short and good and I'm a Browncoat so it must be forced upon everyone I meet)
I'm told Buffy and Angel too although I'm not as much of a fan of those.
Lost seems pretty popular among the laymen.
There's a vast number of geeky shows that are now popular enough to sneak in as normal nowadays, feel free to take your pick according to her tastes.

For Anime:
Ouron High School Host Club or Dramacon

For Books:
There are lots: I shiver to suggest it but Twilight is frighteningly effective as a gateway book to geekier things. The Host is actually pretty tolerably medium-brow sci-fi, and good to test someone's tolerance for that. Non-controversial titles though include The Study series by Maria V. Snyder, and various and sundry romance novels written by fantasy writers who are just in need of cash or a boyfriend. Burning Alive by Shannon Butcher fitting into the former category.

Games:
...I don't remember what it's like to be on the outside of a video game thing so it's really hard to say... Best advice is to pick something incredibly easy and work your way up.

High school is to be endured. My HS experience got clipped a bit when I was disemboweled senior year, but overall I got lucky in the friends department and managed to have *some* fun. And no, I don't hide my nerdy side. I'm plastered in geeky t-shirts about 80% of the time.

What do you mean by 'disemboweled'?

I had to get surgery that removed bits of internal organs. I even have a nice manly scar.

What prompted the surgery?

I have Crohn's disease. It's not usually life-threatening, but I remained misdiagnosed for a few years so the surgery because necessary. Fit as a fiddle now and much more active for it.

Guess being a cynic doesnt help much either . Remember, four times the population spread over almost the same size as the U.S. At most i will have access to 2-5 million people realisticly. Thanks for the support, no offense but doesnt make things much easier.

for other guys: I found that Facebook Social Games, and Plants vs Zombies to be rather low brow games that girls can get into.. I should post a vid of my GF with her friends, backstage at a photoshoot, all giggling about the zombies .. but my morals go against posting personal stuff online..

Not many wear their badges on their chests like me, no, but most are fairly open about being geeks (except the closet geek girls who will deny having ever talked to you in front of their friends). And we are more concentrated in some parts than in others, so it's hard to no if we're just not sticking out enough or if the area's just sparse. We tend to gravitate toward each other though so if you find one chances are she can introduce you to others.

I was in France for a few months, sure there are nice ones, but statistically I have far better odds with Eastern European. They never burnt the good looking women as witches in the early part of the millennium, so the genetic stock is generally more attractive.

I dont know why Italian women repulse me.. maybe its the attitude, or the hair.. everywhere.. in the drain..

Heh, yes, you might then try easing them into some of the funner flash games everywhere. And when/if you get to the PC and console games pick something with character customization. We girls seem to have unbalanced amounts of fun with that. I've tried to stomp on that girlish tendency but it's like a ingrained genetic cockroach urge to play dress-up.

It's pretty much the cynic part, it has never helped anyone. It's just an excuse not to try.

Well my excuse is the array of other problems i have but i would definitely not diagnose on this forum. Theres "trying" and then theres being unable to talk to people during a social event/gathering and being ignored if you try.

A close friend of mine suffers from social anxiety, so if what you suffer from is that or any other such condition, I'm not really one to give advice and thus won't. But the solution at any case, as far as I know, is not not trying to overcome the issue. At any rate, I feel that's all I can say on the matter. Best of luck and let's stop ourselves from derailing this thread.
