Greetings Fellow Escapists (Wow, first time using that greeting)

Ask a person who has legitimate ADHD and Bipolar. And by "a person", I mean I have both ADHD and Bipolar. FML.

P.S: Yes, there have been 9001 topics similar to this already and even I'm sick of this, but I wanted to see how this goes...

I have ADHD myself, so I'm curious if this is just me;

Do you find it difficult to understand what people are saying if there's much background noise at all, yet not so much that everyone else seems to be able to understand anyone else speaking just fine?

Do you have to take meds for the ADHD? I ask because my friend at primary school had to because apparently he'd flip out randomly if he didn't.

Are you a fan of BlazBlue?

Also:

What the hell is that.
Yes, I am. Where I got the name from of course.

Yes, in fact, I actually do have a hard time with that. It pisses me off how a video being shown in class sounds like random gibberish yet EVERYONE ELSE understands it fine. My hearing must be bad.

Yes, I take meds for both ADHD and Bipolar, I think a total of 10 or so pills a day? I got used to it since I've been diagnosed about 8 years ago when I was 7. (Before anyone says anything, yes I legitimately have both, I still get fairly hyper when off meds and whatnot)

Honestly, even when I'm not on meds, I don't go all Bipolar (Two sides of spectrum) with my mood. I used to though when I was younger, but I guess now that I've matured it got slightly better. I can still snap pretty badly and literally, when I do, I destroy everything around me, but my temper is more controlled and tame for the most part.

Edit: I'm at my normal pole: Calm, Antisocial, Shy, etc. I barely shift to the other side unless something really gets on my nerves, I've learned to sift out the small, immature things to get pissed at. (Although If I'm already pissed I'll usually snap at anything)

Do you actually have the disorders or are you just using them as a crutch for various failings in your life?

Bipolar I, Bipolar II, Cyclothymia or one of the other subdiagnosis?
Uh, what? I dunno, all I know is "I have Bipolar Disorder" and the side effects.

Maybe it's because I was 7 and didn't bother asking questions or listening to the full diagnosis.

They're all different versions of the umbrella term. One focuses mainly on hypermania, one on depressive episodes, one on manic episodes etc. etc. and so forth.

You should probably ask which type you have, as it'll help with treatment.

As for the question, how does it effect your daily life as a human being? :3

I've always wondered about the actual morality of prescribing mind altering drugs to humans, I mean, it's one thing if they choose to alter their minds, but another if a doctor says "your natural personality isn't acceptable to us, we've decided to call it a disorder, so we're going to prescribe you pills that will change who you are." That is to say that while I think that mind altering drugs can be used for both good and bad reasons, I feel like many of the people, both those who prescribe the drugs, and those who take them, don't really understand until it's too late what the ramifications are of giving someone drugs that will change them.

I had a friend who I got fairly close to for a while, she'd been diagnosed (by her psychiatrist father) as a child with a depressive disorder. She told me that the drugs made her feel mentally happy, but physically made her feel awful. She ultimately ended up being an alcoholic, and I wonder if it had something to do with these drugs being such a big part of her childhood.

Anyways, I guess my question would be "what is your take on the use of mind altering drugs on things like ADHD and Bipolar disorder? " I don't know whether you take them yourself or not, but either way your choice either to take or abstain from them I'm sure is at least in part affected by your own feelings on the matter, I guess I'd just be interested to know how someone in one of the affected parties feels on the issue.

Are you able to explain to me the difference between Bipolar and depression? I think I understand but I'm not entirely sure.
