I live in Alaska, which might as well be a different country from the US. Its different up here. So if you have any questions feel free to ask.
How bad are the street gangs there? I heard they were pretty bad on the magic picture box.

@Americans: Are american people really as bad at geography as you're rumoured to be?
Not myself in particular, but yes. It's really, really sad actually. I had a conversation with a classmate that basically ended with her stating, "I don't need to know that geography. It's not like I'm ever going be there or deal with those people." and I just kinda stared at her.

At you Swedes and Danes: Is your penal system really as lenient as it's reported to be? I read the book Catch Me if You Can about a famous con artist, and it seems that his time in your "jail" was more akin to being a nice hotel, just not able to leave that.

To US citizens...do that many of you really have a gun in your house? Is it pretty much everybody like we are led to believe? I'm aware that it may well be more common in some of the southern states, but really...how many of you don't have a gun somewhere in the house?
I guess this depends on the region, but where I live, yes. You could throw a handfull of pebbles into a crowd and have a damn hard time hitting someone who didnt own a gun. I own five, but mostley because I used to hunt and was militia for a while.

Yes i do it is both my brother's and my fathers name.
Oh cool. Tell your brother I say hey (he was my housemate in second year. Logically assuming it's the same Seamus.)
Uh wouldn't say so brother has never lived anywhere but in this house :p

For the US, is it really true that you can acquire a gun license at the age of 14, like I've heard or was that a ridiculous rumour?

If it is true I can kinda understand why school shootings happen now...

I mean, 18 to have sex (As far as I'm aware) 21 to drink (Again, as far as i'm aware) but 14 to be a lisenced Gun-owner...
Think about how much sexual tention is let out by shooting shit...

(what i've heard is likely bullshit, but I figure an american knows better.)
You're right about the other two ages, but what do you mean by gun license? If you mean a hunter safety card stating that you have successfully completed a hunter's safety course and know how to properly handle and use a firearm, then yes, I got mine when I was twelve and I have shot at nothing but targets with no danger to anyone in the vicinity.

Since I'm a Brit an donly just found this out I'd like to ask anyone from America:
  • Did you know that $2 bills exist?
Yes and no. We did use it along time ago but not anymore.
They still make them periodically. Here. Last time was in 2003; my grandpa gives them to me whenever they get printed.

Sorry if someone already pointed that out to you.

[edit] My bad. Upon further reading, it looks like the issue is mostly resolved.

Yes. There is a fair bit of animosity between French and English Canada, which is to say, Quebec and everywhere else. There's also a certain hatred of the eastern provinces by the western provinces. Basically, the west doesn't feel fairly represented in the Federal Government. And most people (especially in the west) feel that the government favours French Canada and are resentful.

Some of them are quite nice, yes. Some of them are obnoxious, but that's the same anywhere.

do you end every sentence in "ehh"?
First of all, it's 'eh', only one h. Second of all, some of us do, some of us don't. I do hear eh a fair bit, but,it depends on your region and social class.

is everything really done in both french and english...?

also to americans in high school do you really have such defined cliches as we see on TV and in films....?
It depends on the high school. At my school we really don't have the cliches and the problems that come with them. We are all kinda just laid back (like the rest of Oregon really), but I'm there are some high school in my country that are like that (probably in California or Florida).
I will agree with my fellow oregonian.

Okay, now that's freaky. That means there's at least three Oregonians on this thread as well.
