Is australia really just the alabama of the south pacific

What i really meant was, are local calls really not free in the UK?
It depends on the first 2 numbers of the phone number. 01 is the cheapest, 09 is the most expensive. 08 is average for a TV phone-in and 01 is usually a residential number or local business.

Since I'm a Brit an donly just found this out I'd like to ask anyone from America:
  • Did you know that $2 bills exist?
Yes and no. We did use it along time ago but not anymore.
I heard they're still legal tender, just a lot of people don't know it. Either way, my friends in America and I gave her a mission to get me one.
If I remember they stop mass production of them awhile ago so that's why I said yes and no.

This is for anyone outside of Sweden to answear.

When I tell people Im swedish, sometimes I get the question "oh, are you blonde and have huge breasts?"

Is that REALLY how you think swedish girls look, people? Really?
No you misunderstand. That is how we think anyone from Sweden looks, male or female.

I'm actually serious here: Do you shovel you drive way, or how does that work?

Is chinese food in China the same as America?
I've been, and it's nothing like it. They may as well call not call the western stuff Chinese, it's completely different.

Do you have a limit to how much you can download or do on the internet in a month in America?
Nope. We're free on the internet (not a good thing).

Sometimes if the snow we get just kind of dusts the ground we shovel, but when it gets to be about 8" of accumulation we pull out the snowblower. The back deck still gets shoveled by hadn though. Thats a pain when we get 3 feet in a night. Schools dont close for anything under 4 1/2', except maybe ice.

I refer you to

You also didn't say that they are not your physical attributes.

I actually would have just asked how tall you are. That would be my only stereotype.

To US citizens...do that many of you really have a gun in your house? Is it pretty much everybody like we are led to believe? I'm aware that it may well be more common in some of the southern states, but really...how many of you don't have a gun somewhere in the house?

My grandmother(whose house I'm at now) actually has nine $2 bills. 4 of them actually have red seals and serial numbers on them.

As for my question, anybody here from Japan?

Considering The Escapist has thousands of members from various countries, I'm starting this thread so you can ask someone from another country about somthing in their country.

I'll start: Are there really spiders in Australia that sometimes hide under the toilet bowl rim?
There are, but they have to be able to get in to your bathroom first! They tend to show up only out on stations and the like, places that still have full-on outhouses.

Just how much of a problem are the poisonous critters in Australia? Do you have to routinely check shoes and stuff?

Talking about the hot places, of course.
It depends on where you are, but even in parts of Sydney and Canberra, it can get pretty bad. I knew people who stepped on a dozen redblack spiders (one of the most dangerous) every time they left their house. For the most part, you won't see snakes in the inner suburbs of the cities, but the farther out you get, the more common they are. Honestly, they'd be much more of a problem if people weren't used to them. As it is, people accept the spiders and snakes and insects, and then get on with their lives.
